It is almost dinnertime and I’m getting a little hungry. So I guess there is no better time than to talk about one of my favorite topics food. Today I want to talk about a new-found love for a very delicious food and that is barbecued ribs. I’m talking about baby back ribs, regular ribs, pork ribs or beef ribs. Either with a dry rub or lathered in a nice barbecue ribs. Growing up I was never exposed to the delicacy of ribs. I guess my parents weren’t too adventurous when it came to food. I mean come on I didn’t have my first buffalo wing until I was like 18 years old. So growing up I had this sort of fear of the unknown world of barbecue ribs.
It wasn’t until 3-4 years ago when I was in my 30’s that I truly experienced the blissfulness of ribs. My family and I were visiting Disney World in Orlando, Florida when we decided to eat dinner at a Rain Forest Café. The Rain Forest Café was located near the entrance to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This also happened to by my first time at a Rain Forest Café. I noticed on their menu they offered a full rack of barbecued ribs for a pretty reasonable price. I decided to throw caution to the wind and order them. About ten minutes later the waitress brought all of our food to the table. My eyes widened as I gazed upon the shiny barbecued ribs. I was so eager to give them a try. Wow, wow, wow, is all I had to say. The combination of the tangy barbecue sauce and the softness of the rib meat were delectable. It was great how easily the rib meat came off the bones. Of course I gave some to my husband and kids to try and they loved it. By the end of the meal I was completely satisfied and became an instant barbecue rib lover.
Over the next couple of years I would become what you would say a rib connoisseur. Whenever I would go to a new restaurant I would immediately check their menu to see if they offered ribs. If I didn’t see them I would also ask the waitress just to confirm. I have had the ribs at the usual places such as Applebee’s and Chili’s. They both offer pretty decent ribs but the ones at Chili’s are better. I have also tried the ribs at the Rain Forest Café near Niagara Falls (Canadian side). Lets just say that that experience fell way short of my original experience in Orlando, Florida. I guess not all Rain Forest Café’s are the same. Another place that fell short of my expectations was Dallas BBQ. You would think with a name that has BBQ in it they would have some kicking ribs. Well they didn’t. I was very disappointed in the two visits I made to their establishment. On both occasions the rib meat was tough and difficult to get to. I don’t want to fight with my food when I am eating if you know what I mean. Most recently I had the ribs at Houlihan’s. At first they came out a little burnt so I sent them back. The second time around they were cooked to perfection. The sauce was perfect as well.
On a recent road trip to Ohio I had ribs at a place called Max and Erma’s in Canton. They delivered a very healthy portion of ribs. Although I felt there was a bit too much sauce on them the rib meat was especially tasty and tender. That was the last place I had ribs. Some places that I will not get ribs from are Chinese food take out place or McDonalds. No I don’t think their McRib sandwich truly qualifies as barbecued ribs.
My next venture is to try my hand at cooking barbecue ribs on my grill. I will let you know how that one goes. If anyone has any good rib recipes feel free to share. I heard there are some great rib places in Louisiana and South Carolina.

Oh my word…now I really want some ribs! Those look really yummy. I have never eaten at Rain Forest Cafe, because I have never been near one, but I have seen some really fun pictures from their restaurants! My 9 year wedding anniversary is tomorrow…I am thinking chilli’s for some ribs for dinner! YUMMY!

We are HUGE rib fans! I have only made them myself a couple of times and they were okay but I prefer going out for them. My faves I’ve tried so far are at Central BBQ in Memphis, TN 🙂 I’ve never had them from Chili’s. Guess I’ll have to try those sometime too.

I love ribs! They’re one of my favorites! If you are ever in Tennessee the very best ribs can be found in Nashville at Jack’s Bar-B Que and Corky’s in Memphis is also amazing!

ok heres how to grill the best ribs first cut them apart then boil them in garlic water till they are about half way cooked then marinate them in bbq sauce for at least an hr more if you have the time, then throw them on the grill let them sit dont turn them till they are ready to turn ONLY TURN THEM ONCE!!! while they are cooking baste them with more bbq sauce. they are AMAZING my hubby and i do it all the time for cook outs and all our friends LOVE IT!!

OMG I love making ribs.. we put ours in a slow cooker season it and leave it all day in the slow cooker.. When we put them in the slow cooker we don’t and water we let the slowcooker bring out the natural juices.. and an hour before its almost dinner and we put the BBQ sauce all over them and pop them in the oven on 350 for 1 hour they are the softest and most tender I have ever eaten them and they taste divine.. We call them the Lazy Ribs since their really is not much put into making them lol… and my other weakness is wings lol but I will give a recipe for that when you write a post on wings lol… and now you made this pregnant woman hungry for some ribs guess we might have them for dinner tomorrow
