This year I’m a little luckier because my mom took my kiddos on vacation to Europe and they are not coming back until the end of August. Oh how I miss them right now! They are currently exploring Estonia, Sweden, Baltic sea, pools and spas, pick-nicks, camp fires, barbecues, playgrounds and so much more. I know they are having a great time. Our school this year starts on September 9th.
If you’re not so lucky as me, the first day of school is so close you can taste it. Sure, your babies are growing up, but it’s been a long, hot summer (Boo! Where did the summer go??) and you’re counting down the days until you can lovingly wave goodbye as those kiddos get on the bus.
As you wipe the single tear from your cheek, you think to yourself: no more backyard bickering, coming up with creative things for them to do or crowdsourced grocery shopping. Clouds part and angels sing — your life is yours again… right?
But there’s still some time left to make sure everyone’s brains still work after a summer of…whatever you’ve been letting them get away with.
