Did I just hear someone say it’s almost October? Are you for real? I can’t believe summer is already behind us, we’ve almost gotten past September, and now we will be getting ready for Halloween and all the fall festivals. Time sure does fly by when you are busy that’s for sure. With all of this rushing around getting things for the kids and taking them here and there its important to hit the pause button every once in a while. When you find yourself running around like a chicken without a head you have to stop and find sometime away from all of the buzz. One thing that I like to do with the kids is arts and crafts projects.
My daughter recently found a great Halloween project in a recent issue of her “Highlights” kids’ magazine. It is a very simple and easy idea called the “Ghostly Pencil”. As far as supplies go you only need four different items. They are: tissues, Halloween themed pencils, colored yarn or string, and a black magic marker. You take one tissue and roll it into a ball. You place it at the edge of the pencil with the eraser and then you place another piece of tissue over the ball. Push the tissue down over the pencil and tie a piece of yarn around the tissue. It should look like a ghost head. Now with your black marker make two eyes and a mouth.
Tip: To make a spooky ghost mouth hold the marker sideways and gently roll it up and down. If you are making them for your child’s class or to giveaway on Halloween just repeat the above instructions.
