Are you a current Netflix subscriber or considering on getting Netflix – stay tuned, I will be giving away another Free Netflix Gift cards next week!
Picture this: It’s Friday or Saturday night and you’re sitting at home contemplating the idea of going out on the town or staying in and curling up on the couch with a good movie. As you may have surmised I am a proponent of the latter and I will outline 10 reasons why you should just stay home and Watch Netflix. Now please don’t get me wrong I do enjoy getting out of the house and hitting Main Street. It is great to take a stroll or drive down the road on a cool summer evening to take in the sights and smells of the street. Oh, wait, hold on a second. The smells of the street in the summer? Who am I kidding? The odors of garbage, dirty sidewalks, cigarette smoke and other noxious scents. Not to mention the rude people who talk too loud, the cell phone zombies, and the drivers who just love to honk their horns. Hold on a minute, did I just list 10 reasons to stay home and Watch Netflix? No, not quite yet. So how about you stick around a bit and keep reading:
1: Going out to the movies costs way too much. Have you seen the price of movie tickets lately? It’s ridiculous. The price of one adult ticket in NYC is $19.99. For that price, you could get Netflix for 2-months and still have money left over for popcorn and raisinets. For the cost of taking a family of 4 out to the movies, you can just about pay for your annual Netflix membership. Now that I can guarantee is much better than watching one movie in the theater.
2: You can watch a great Netflix Original Movie. Netflix has an excellent reputation for not only creating some brilliant shows but movies as well. Check out the sci-fi thriller “ARQ.” Trapped in a lab and stuck in a time loop, a disoriented couple fends off masked raiders while harboring a new energy source that could save humanity. Now that sounds like a way I want to spend my Friday night.
3: Check out one of the many Netflix Original Series. By now you’ve most likely all heard of the Netflix Original series “OITNB: Orange is the New Black.” If you haven’t I have two questions: Have you been living under a rock?, and What the heck are you waiting for? Seriously folks, there are so many excellent Netflix original shows out there it’s mind boggling. Some of my personal favorites are: “Lilyhammer,” “Frontier,” “The Killing”, “Marvel’s Iron Fist”, and of course “House of Cards.”
4: The cost of going out to dinner. Unless you are hitting the drive-thru of your favorite fast food joint you can expect to spend between $40-$60 on dinner for two. Throw in the kids and that price could easily jump closer to $100. What’s the point? Stay-in, order a pizza, and watch a movie on Netflix. Save money, fill your belly, and have fun.
5: The price of frozen yoghurt is enough to give you brain freeze. Have you been to one of those do-it yourself frozen yoghurt places? You know the ones that charge by the ounce and let you put on all the toppings you want. My first experience at one of these places cost me an arm and leg. The price of 3 frozen yoghurts with toppings was around $25. When the cashier rung me up I was like, “Are you serious?” Here’s some advice: buy a tub of frozen yoghurt at your local supermarket and enjoy it while watching Netflix.
6: Cell Phone Zombies. You all know what I’m talking about, right? Those darn people that walk down the street fixated on their smartphone screens, without a care in the world. If you are not careful you can get run over by one of them or even worse you may run one of them over with your car. I call them “cell phone zombies”, and they are running rampant all over our cities.
7: Watch some real zombies on Netflix. Instead of dealing with cell phone zombies you can catch up with your favorite undead characters by watching episodes of “The Walking Dead”. You can also check out “iZombie” or “Z Nation.” (warning baby zombie alert)
8: Avoid the meanies. If you go out on the town you run the risk of crossing paths with the meanies. The “Meanies”, as I like to refer to them are those people that do everything in their power to be mean. They honk their horns excessively, they are impatient when waiting on lines, they curse at the drop of a hat, they don’t smile much, they never say excuse me or bother to hold open a door, those are the “Meanies.” Why take the chance of running into them in person when you can just watch people exhibiting poor behavior from the comfort of your own home. Watching shows such as “Breaking Bad”, “Shameless”, and “Trailer Park Boys,” will surely show you some bad human behavior.
9: Avoid bad weather. Whether it’s the rain, snow, sleet, or hotter than hell summers you’re better off enjoying some Netflix from the comfort of your own cozy couch. Instead of experiencing the bad weather first hand why not watch a movie that shows others getting stuck out in the elements. If you’re in the mood for a tornado movie with a twist of sharks check out “Sharknado.” Watch a bunch of Norwegians try to escape disaster in “The Wave.” Or you can get back to reality and check out an episode of “Forces of Nature.”
10: See #1 above. Did I mention the ridiculous cost of going out to the movies? Just save yourself a bunch of money and stress by signing up for Netflix today.
*Disclaimer: These are all movies that I watched on Netflix and enjoyed. As of the writing of this article they are all available to stream on Netflix.
