Trying to find a reliable well-constructed backpack for everyday school use can be challenging. There seems to be two different types of backpacks on the market today. Your average school backpack that is aimed at students and your rugged pack aimed at hikers and campers. The problem with the student backpacks is that they usually do not last very long. They are made with lower quality materials and tend to wear out in one season.
The hiker backpacks on the other hand are made with rugged materials but they tend to be too large for everyday use. Finding a backpack “that is just right” can be quite challenging. I’m talking about a pack that is rugged enough for everyday kid use, that has enough pockets and compartments to store all of my kids books and gear, and is not bulky.
Carri Backpacks
After searching for the ultimate backpack for a long time with more error found in my trials I think I finally came across a pack that has it all. The name of the company that produces this backpack is Carri. Their motto is “Carri one give one.” For every backpack that is purchased, Carri Backpacks will donate a pack to an impoverished child through Childhelp, YMCA, and Communities In Schools. That is a pretty honorable thing for a company to do. So basically when you purchase a backpack from Carri you’re buying two, one for your child and one for a child in need. This sounds like a win-win-win situation to me.
Once you see the quality of this backpack and the features they offer you will understand what I mean by win-win-win. The compact design and creative features offered by Carri make it one of the nicest packs I have seen in a while. For example there is a laptop compartment with removable neoprene sleeve. You can fit laptops up to 15 inches in this section. Some of the other features include: felt lined media pocket, tablet pouch, cushion shock absorber, heavy padded backing and shoulder straps and 600 denier fabric. There are also plenty of pockets and nooks to keep your pens, pencils, keys, passport, wallet, and other goodies.
After loading up my daughter’s new Carri Original with her textbooks, notebooks, folders, pens, snacks, water and hand sanitizer she took it for trial run to school for a week. What I noticed right away is that the Carri Original was well balanced on her shoulders and back. The shoulder straps and back padding provided nice support and comfort. There was plenty of room inside for all of her stuff to fit comfortably.
The Carri backpack is proportionally sized for a young person.
This is a good thing since most packs I see kids wearing are either way too big for their bodies or just too small to hold much of anything. What made my daughter the happiest was the fact that an identical backpack to the one she was wearing was going to a child in need. She was telling me how nice it is to give to others who may need our help. This kind of giving attitude is something that I’ve always wanted to instill in my children. No matter what our situation is we always have to think about the people who may be less fortunate that us.
Disclosure: I received the product sample to facilitate this post. All opinions are mine.
Carri Backpacks sell Carri Original for $125 and Carri Classic for $85. Visit Carri Backpack for more information and to support children in need.
