20 Animal Movies for Kids on Netflix

When I think about all of the movies I have ever watched, several of my most enjoyable experiences have been when the movie has an animal as one of the stars. Whether it be a real animal or a fictitious animated one these movies make me laugh and sometimes cry. Even if you are not really an animal lover these types of movies usually make you feel good after watching them. Seeing animals take on adventures by themselves or as a sidekick to a person is for the most part good family entertainment.

One such movie that my family recently watched on Netflix was called “Hachi: A Dog’s Tale.” It stars Richard Gere, Joan Allen, and of course the Akita who plays Hachi.

His full name is Hachiko and the movie is based on a true story that took place in Japan during the 1920’s going into the 1930’s. This is a truly heart warming, uplifting, yet sad story that is great to watch with the kids. I will be the first to admit that I cried more than once during this movie. They were mixed tears of both joy and sadness. Hachi truly embodies the spirit of loyalty and friendship and even now as I think about this I feel myself getting moved. So on your next movie night with the family I would highly recommend watching this movie. Just make sure that you have a box of tissues next to you.
