I didn’t realize how awful my old pillow had become until I was put on bed rest and received these new pillows from Smart Silk. (Just in case you are new at I Love My Kids blog or maybe missed the announcement–I’m am due with baby #4 in July! I’ve had a bit of a rough start to this pregnancy and was diagnosed with several complications that are serious risks to the baby’s life/health, which has put me on bed rest for the last 78 days!) Fortunately, I am starting to feel better and the complications are starting to correct themselves. I am 17 weeks, finally starting to be able to eat and show, and get to find out in 3 weeks if we will have a 4th daughter or if we will finally have a boy!

It only took a couple of days in bed (all the way back in the first part of December) to realize how old my pillow had gotten–honestly–it smelled. Gross info to share I know. It is over 7 years old and I have washed it several times. It is a foam pillow (so it still has it’s spring) but it falls apart in the washing machine, so I don’t wash it as often as I should. One of my challenges early in my pregnancy was I couldn’t keep my food “swallowed”. It turned out to be that I had some serious acid re-flux (it didn’t hurt) but my doctor suggested I sleep on 2 pillows, so that is what I have been doing for the last 3 months to help with that issue. It has helped considerably, but it is NOT comfortable at all-my neck always hurts.

I was certainly ready for a change in pillow and found Smart Silk. I chose to get 2 king size pillows as my hubby and I are running out of room on our queen bed when all the kiddos come to cuddle with us–a king bed in our near future–finally!

Before I “unwrapped” them it measured 2.5 inches in depth/fluffiness.

The very first thing I noticed was the clear and easy to follow care instructions. I didn’t have to guess when or how to keep my pillow clean and low on allergens. I also loved that it was certified asthma and allergy friendly. I personally don’t suffer much from those two common problems, but with the amount of time I spend on my pillow I like being assured that the surface is as clean as possible!

Some of my favorite things about these pillows are the things you can’t see. Like the filling. It isn’t filled with stuffing, cotton, poly fill, etc. It is made out of woven Smart Silk that is stretched in sheets and layered on top of each other. When you sleep with this pillow, you literally are sleeping on silk! This is what the inside layers of silk look like:

Then it is enclosed with a soft, 100% cotton, natural and breathable cover.

Dust-MitesI am HAPPY to say thanks to my Smart Silk Pillow these creepy mites aren’t sleeping with me tonight! YUCK! As I mentioned before I do have to sleep at an angle in order to fight some annoying acid re-flux that won’t allow me to keep my food swallowed. Since I got the king size pillow I am able to fold my pillow in half and get the desired slant I need without killing my neck like my 2 old pillows gave me.

My husband and I are both used to sleeping on foam pillows that are bouncy and don’t let your head “sink” in. That has been an adjustment for both of us going to the Smart Silk pillow. After 7+ years of that, it may take a couple of weeks to get used to a different style of pillow. We also have always had queen size pillows and never a king, so another adjustment for us to make. The awesome features of this pillow make me want to throw away every other pillow we have in the house….who knows what is living in them! My husband every night after 30 minutes in bed would get congested, stuffy, it made him snore and not be able to sleep. The night he switched to the Smart Silk pillow I noticed that he didn’t get up once to blow his nose, or cough, and he didn’t snore-because he wasn’t congested! Yup…I’m in love.

The pillows were such a lovely new addition to our room, on my husband’s day off he decided to rip down the flowery wall paper border and get rid of the pink tinted walls we had in there since we moved in. We got a beautiful colonial blue color, it is relaxing, lovely, and just makes me sleepy looking at it! Check it out!

    I think the crib sets would be great! Our little ones are so susceptible to all kinds of illnesses, and respiratory problems, so I think the crib bedding would be great.

    I want the silk mattress pad! Our mattress pad is 7 years old, has shrunk so it barely fits our queen mattress and you have to fight with it to get it back on after washing it, and is awful for temperature regulation – always sweating!

    I hope I am doing this correctly LOL! I would love the comforter. My hubby has alot of health issues. Reflux being one of them. He has it so bad some nights that he barely sleeps. He has bad allergies also so the pillows and comforter would save me the extra work of washing all the bedding as often as I do.

    I would love to win anything from Smart Silk. However, since it doesn’t seem to have any colors choices than white from what I can tell, and I have 2 messy children, the sheets seem to be the greatest. If there were colors, I would love to have an entire bedding set! Shoot, I’d like to win an entire bedding set anyhow. Free is free right?
