Last weekend I was at a dinner party enjoying some interesting conversations with my friends about life, work, kids, and Netflix. Yes, Netflix was a topic that kept coming up during our conversations. As a matter of fact it seems like the topic of streaming shows and movies through Netflix is very common among adults nowadays.
The conversation usually goes something like this: “Do you watch Orange is the New Black?” “Oh, yah I love that show. I can’t wait for the new season to begin.” “What do you think is going to happen to Piper this season?” This goes back and forth for a while until someone changes the topic to ask about another show. Maybe something about “House of Cards”, or “Fuller House.”
Everyone shares about his or her favorites and then eventually you get someone who hasn’t seen any of them. Or they cut you off by saying, “Wait don’t say anything about last season I’m still watching it.” Of course no one wants to be a spoiler so we just say, “You’re going to love the way it ends”, or something like that. When we run out of Netflix shows to talk about we end up bragging about whom has binge watched the most episodes in a row.
I think I hold the record for watching an entire season of Sons of Anarchy over a three-day weekend. I wonder if that is something I should be proud of or not. I guess in the scope of things it really doesn’t matter much. I’m being entertained and no one is getting hurt.
