L is for Lollipop, Lego, Leaf, and Ladybug: Preschool Activities for the Letter L

Here are the activities that we did for the letter L!

The first activity we did for the letter L was make a lollipop.

Supplies:

  • Paper Plate
  • Kid Friendly Paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Big Popsicle Stick (We didn’t have any on hand but we did have an extra paint stirrer so we used that)
  • Glue

How to do this activity:

  1. Have your child pick three paint colors.
  2. Pour the paint our by swirling it around the paper plate. Do this with each of the paint colors.
  3. Then have your child use their paintbrush to cover the plate with the paint, this will create a marbled look.
  4. Once the paint is dry glue the Popsicle stick to the back of the plate.

Personally this was my favorite activity because I love how it ended up looking. Plus it helps that my daughter ended up picking three colors that I love. It is also such a fun little activity that can be played with while pretending to be miniature.

The next letter L activity that we did was play with legos in two creative ways.

My kids are already big fans of legos. They love building with them and can spend hours doing so. So when I told them that the days activities would be involving them they could not wait.

First we played with the legos with playdoh. They had lots of fun seeing what kind of shapes each lego would make. It is now their favorite way to play with legos.

The other lego activity we did was painting with legos. I had my kids each pick out two colors of paint that they wanted and they then dipped legos into the paint and stamped it onto a piece of paper. Then I spent a few minutes making sure all the legos they used got washed off.

The next letter L activity we did was decorate with leaves.

Supplies:

  • Construction Paper
  • Leaves
  • Glue
  • Scissors

How to do this activity:

  1. First go on a hunt for leaves. We took this opportunity to go on a little walk while we searched.
  2. Bring the leaves home.
  3. Cut out big bubble Ls out of the construction paper.
  4. Glue the leaves to the paper L.

The most fun part of this activity was going to search for the leaves. It was a great way to get outside and have a reason for doing so, this way they were way less likely of getting bored.

The last activity we did for the letter L was make a ladybug.

Supplies:

  • Paper Plate
  • Kid Friendly Paint, red and black
  • Construction Paper
  • Paintbrush
  • Glue
  • Googly Eyes

How to do this activity:

  1. Paint the paper plate red and let dry.
  2. Once the red paint is dry paint a black line down the middle and black spots all over.
  3. While the black paint dries cut out a head and antennas from the black construction paper.
  4. Glue the head to the top of the paper plate. Then glue the antennas to the top of the head. Glue the googly eyes on the head.

This was another activity that ended up turning out really cute. My daughter loves painting so the letter L activities were a big hit with her!

Which of these letter L activities would your child like doing the most? What other letter L activities can you think of?
