Every now and then a product comes around that takes your breath away. It becomes something that is so unique and jaw dropping, that you feel like everyone in the world would benefit from owning it. In fact, you spend hours thinking of how convenient it would have been to have in your life sooner, and are just grateful beyond words to have it now. For me, this product is the XLS E-Bike by Hover-1.

First off, let’s just talk about how weirdly-awesome the XLS e-bike looks. I am fairly certain that I have never seen anything quite like it before. At first glance, it is easy to question its durability and strength. But after a quick inspection, it becomes apparent that the XLS e-bike is sturdy, strong, and dependable. On the specification chart it states that the max weight limit is 285lbs! Can you believe that? This little thing is capable of running well even with close to 300lbs on it! That is impressive.
I will be honest, I was hesitant to believe that it had the ability to hold much weight…it definitely doesn’t look like it is capable of it. However, knowing what the specifications stated, my husband and I willingly took a ride on the e-bike. Not only did it support him well, but it performed the same for him as it did for me…and between the two of us, there is probably 60lbs difference.
How fast does the Hover-1 XLS e-bike go?
One question that I get asked every time I talk about the Hover-1 XLS e-bike is “how fast does it go?” If you were to check on the website, it says it can travel at 20mph, however I have never had it go that fast, nor has anyone else that has taken it for a spin. The fastest anyone has been able to get it to go consistently is 18mph. That is with a fully charged battery, on a flat surface.
The duration of staying at a higher speed is greatly affected by the battery. The battery is a lithium-ion battery and seems to have decent power. We discovered that the battery drains quickly though, and is not capable of lasting as long as the company specifications state. When my husband was using the e-bike, the battery seemed to drain quicker than when I was using it. I assume that is it because of our weight difference. So every person’s experience with how long the battery last may always vary depending on how much pressure is being placed on the bike.
What Features are Found on the Hover-1 XLS e-bike?
The XLS e-bike is a full functioning form of transportation for many different lifestyles. From dual disc breaks to a padded seat, comfort and safety are both features you will find on the XLS e-bike. In addition to that, the Hover-1 XLS e-bike has an LED display showing your speed of travel, distance of travel, and battery level. Headlights & Taillights, with right and left blinkers, make it easier to see and be seen while on the road. In addition to that, it also has a horn that can be used to alert those around you, if needed. The XLS e-bike is powered by a rechargeable battery that just plugs straight into the wall, using a basic electrical outlet.
Perhaps one of the neatest features the XLS e-bike has to offer though is its’ unique ability to collapse down for easy storing and portable travel. I used the XLS e-bike to commute to work and had it right along side me. I just plugged it into the wall to charge, and went about my daily business. It is so small, that it doesn’t get in the way, and is easy to take almost everywhere you go. With that being said, you should be prepared and able to carry about 50lbs without trouble if you decided to fold it up and carry it around with you. I don’t want to give the impression that it is lightweight, because it is not. In fact, it is solid steel and very well made.
Who is the Hover-1 XLS e-bike Best For?
Hover-1 suggests that those age 14 years or older should ride and operate the XLS e-bike. I would probably let my children ride it at 14 around the neighborhood, but not on main roads or long distances. I think that the Hover-1 XLS e-bike is ideal for college students, those with urban lifestyles, or anyone vacationing along a beach with a nice boardwalk and green belt. It is the perfect get-up-a-go bike. Zooming around college campuses or resort getaways, really make this an ideal form of transportation for both work and play. Let’s not forget one of the greatest benefits using the Hover-1 XLS e-bike provides…which is the fact that it is completely electric, with no assembly required! Mother nature will love seeing you riding around town on this.

As I mentioned earlier, my husband and I have really been enjoying the convenience and fun the XLS e-bike has brought into our lives. It is a great way to get out, relax, and travel from one place to another in town. My husband wanted to put the Hover-1 XLS e-bike to a challenge and really test its’ abilities. It is notable that the XLS e-bike is not intended for recreational use on dirt paths or gravel roads, however my husband really wanted to see the limits the XLS e-bike had. He had a great time putting this review video together.

I recently purchased the Hover-1 All Star Pink as a gift and just wanted to share my experience. I am located in Florida & to anyone wanting to purchase this product, please think wisely before purchasing. My product was purchased in June & started to malfunction in July, I went to do an exchange or upgrade & pay the difference from the place of purchase, (Walmart) be exact, but Walmart said, that there was nothing they could do as this product only had a (15)day return/exchange policy even w/ a receipt. It did not give me a warranty option at time of check out. This to me is very deceiving & misleading to consumers. I have never heard of a 15day warranty on a device almost $200. This not only says, a lot about this company, but it says, a lot about Walmart as well since Walmart is selling their products, not to mention, the company has no direct line of contact, you apparently have to go online & submit a ticket for trouble shooting. I regret purchasing this gift as this whole thing has been a hassel. Hopefully, they do right by their customers because we as consumers are the reason their in business. Again, my experience, but to each is own.
I’m sorry about your experience. It’s quite possible that the device is defective. Since walmart is not refunding it, I would reach out directly to the company. Also try to reach them via Twitter and Facebook. I hope they will sort it out since they should stand behind their products…. Good luck
