One of my favorite genres of movies are that of the apocalyptic or post-apocalyptic fiction. You know the end of the world scenarios where the characters of the film either must deal with the eminent demise of the world or living in the aftermath of some sort of catastrophic event. When you think about it this genre of movies can be very broad.
Any type of zombie movie usually falls into this category as well as earthquakes, giant meteors careening towards earth, nuclear holocaust, killer viruses, alien attacks, or any other major catastrophe.
With that said I would love to share some of my favorite movies from this genre that are available to watch right now on Netflix. My first suggestion also happens to be a personal favorite and that is called “THE ROAD”. It stars Viggo Mortensen and is about a father and son who try to survive in a post-atomic wasteland. If you enjoy end of the world scenarios with a heavy dose of survival than this movie is right up your alley.
Another one of my personal favorites is called “The Last Days.” No, this movie is in Spanish with English subtitles but it is worth it. I for one watch most of my movies with subtitles anyway so it doesn’t really phase me. Anyway, this movie is about how two guys who work in an office together try to survive on the streets of Barcelona while a fatal type of agoraphobia kills anyone who ventures outside. This movie is filmed well and there are some definite intense scenes that freak you out. Be patient as the movie develops and you are surely in for a treat.
