LipSense fell into my life recently and I found myself wondering, where has this been all my life? You may be wondering, what is LipSense, until 3 weeks ago I had never heard of it and now I don’t want to live without it! LipSense is a line of long lasting lip colors and moisturizing glosses that work together to create the perfect finishing touch to your look! I had a lot of questions about this lipstick and thanks to the help of the Lippy Sisters I’ve been able to try LipSense and can’t wait to tell you all about my experience.
First, a little bit about me: I really think that a set of beautiful lips complete a look. At my wedding reception I could not find my lip gloss anywhere, the party was about to start and my new sister in law overheard me say to myself, “If there isn’t lip gloss, what’s the point?” Thankfully, my sister in law laughed and pulled out her lip gloss for me and shared. I felt put together and pretty just as the party started. I’m not a huge fan of lipstick because it gets on everything I drink or eat and it feels heavy, I like the way it looks, but don’t wear it much for that reason. I’ve tried “long lasting” lipsticks in the past just to have them peel a few hours into it. I’ve tried some that look terrible and cheap! That is why when I was told about LipSense from my friend Erin, I was a tad skeptical. Luckily Chana, a friend that I hadn’t seen in what felt like a lifetime, came to visit and brought her LipSense with her! I finally had a chance to try it out and ask all my questions, like:
How do I apply this lipstick to make it stay all day?
It was pretty simple to do, I made sure my lips were clean and dry, and then used a layering technique. I started on my bottom lip in the corner and moved it across my lip in one direction (not back and forth like you do with regular lipstick) I did 3 swoops over my bottom lip, then did 3 swoops over my top lip. I made sure they didn’t touch each other during this drying time. It was about 4 seconds, then I did another 3 swoops, let them dry for 3-5 seconds. Then did my final set of 3 swoops. Doing 3 sets of 3 swoops provides maximum stay coverage! Once they are dry (3-5 seconds) add a gloss and you are good to go! You can re-apply the gloss as needed throughout the day. I loved this because I don’t need a mirror to apply clear gloss like I need to apply lipstick, so it makes it so easy and convenient! The first kind I tried was Plum!

How long does LipSense actually last?
LipSense says it can last from 4-12 hours, I updated my friend every few hours because she was curious about it too. This is after 6 hours:
After 18 hours of my first day wearing LipSense this is literally how I woke up. My lips looked awesome still!
Can I just say I love waking up with my lipstick already on? I Do! I also tried a few different colors on my hand and 2 days later was chatting with an older local businessman who pointed to my hand and asked what I had been painting. I said my lips and explained I had been to a lipstick party 2 days earlier and it was still on my hand. His reply was, “Wow, that is some long lasting lipstick, If I wore lipstick, I’d buy that!” Ha-I may just buy Gary some LipSense for Christmas! 😉 One tube of LipSense is equal to 4 tubes of lipstick. One tube of LipSense will last you 6+ months!
Does LipSense peel or flake off?
LipSense says it is formulated to help slough off the junk your other lipstick and chap stick leaves behind, because of this – you may experience some peeling. This is NORMAL! Don’t go back to your old products, stick to using LipSense and soon you’ll have the softest, prettiest lips around! In my personal experience of 3 weeks, I have not experienced any peeling at ALL! LipSense’s Glossy Gloss contains Shea Butter which is ultra moisturizing and great for your lips. I used to have to put chap stick or lip gloss on about 10-12 times a day and they were cracked and peeling all the time. In the weeks I’ve been using LipSense lipstick and gloss, my lips are super soft and I only need to apply gloss when I am going out somewhere. I’ve tossed all my other chap stick products because I really love this gloss! Another really neat feature is LipSense contains cosmetic grade alcohol so when you first apply, you may feel a slight tingle – this is LipSense cleaning your lips! I love this tingle! I look forward to it every time!
So if it doesn’t peel off, how do I get it off?
LipSense carries a product called Ooops remover. It can be used to remove the lip color if you want or in case you make an ooops when applying! Just like you put the color on in layers, you have to take it off in layers. The plum color felt a bit too dark for me, so I tried another kind, Caramel Apple. This was from the pink family and I loved the way it looked! It really is waterproof, smudge proof, kiss proof….it’s amazing! Here are my lips before my shower:

The week after I tried LipSense for the first time I went to help my parents move to a new house and my sister from Texas also came to help! I asked her if she had ever heard of LipSense and she showed me her collection that she had brought with her! Another sister said she has been wanting to try it too, I’m just trying to figure out what rock I’ve been living under that I haven’t heard of this awesomeness until now!!!
