Netflix Halloween Stream & Scream Guide

It is hard to believe that just 2 weeks ago I was wearing shorts and just today I had to put on a jacket to go outside.  Yes the fall weather has finally arrived which means the leaves will be falling soon and it’s time to get out those pumpkins and Halloween decorations.  This year we actually got our decorations up during the last week of September.  The only thing we have to do is make our annual trip to the pumpkin patch and finalize some costume ideas.  It is also the time of the year that we like to watch some spooky movies on Netflix.  Now that our kids are getting a bit older we can step things up a notch on the scariness index.

One of our favorite scary shows to watch, as a family is the Goosebumps series by R.L. Stine.  I am happy to see that they now have “Goosebumps” the movie on Netflix.  We saw it originally on the big screen at the movie premiere here in NYC.  It was great to see all of our favorite scary characters come to the big screen.  We especially love Slappy the dummy, although I wouldn’t suggest calling him a dummy to his face.  If you would rather stick with old school then you can find 5 seasons of Goosebumps on Netflix as well.

As far as scary movies that are kid friendly there are so many to choose from on Netflix that you can’t go wrong “The Addams Family” for example is a movie based on the original classic TV show.  I really enjoyed this colorized update of a classic original.  In this movie we are introduced to Christina Ricci and actress that has grown-up in front of us on the silver screen.  For a real classic from the 80’s I suggest checking out “E.T.” with the kids.     Now I wouldn’t say that E.T. is really a scary movie but it is funny, cute, and mysterious. Watching it with the family really brought me back to my childhood and of course my love for Reese’s Pieces.

Now that I’ve talked about a family friendly movies I think it is time to step it up a notch like I alluded to earlier.  How about another remake of an all-time classic “The Amityville Horror”?   This movie if you haven’t seen it already will send chills up your spine.  This movie resonates with me especially having grown up on Long Island where the film is set.  Now if you want to go back to some other horror classics why not check out Clive Barkers “Hellraiser.”  You can find all three Hellraiser movies on Netflix now.  Finally if you are looking for a truly disturbing movie with two sequels I suggest you give “The Human Centipede”, a try.  Just remember I warned you.

New on Netflix for Kids, Tweens, Teens and Families.
