I love layering my clothing. It adds dimension and visual contrast. I can use it highlight my favorite parts and to minimize the parts of me that I love a little less. Plus, when layering, I can mix and match different pieces to create whole new looks. Layering gives my wardrobe tons of mileage.
But when I’m nursing, layering is incredibly inconvenient. Some layers go up, other layers go down. I become a mess of cardigans, sweaters, t-shirts, and tank tops. By the time I get down to my bra, my baby is hysterical. Plus, so many shirts are not nursing friendly! They are impossible to pull down, and when I pull them up, everyone can see my stomach and back.
This is why I love Undercover Mama’s shirts. Undercover Mama has developed the perfect tank top for nursing mothers. Each shirt has two types of attachments that hook to the clasp of your nursing bra. When you unclasp your nursing bra, you tank top comes down too.
Voila! No more fighting to get you tank top down. Plus, you don’t have to pull you tank top up, so your back and stomach are still covered. I nurse my babies uncovered, and Undercover Mama’s shirt makes it easy for me to nurse discreetly. Each shirt is made to fit regular bras too, so you can continue to wear your Undercover shirt long after you have stopped nursing.
The Basic Essentials shirt is made of 95% cotton and 5% spandex. This gives the shirt just a little bit of stretch and that means it will fit you beautifully. I got the basic essentials shirt in black. I typically wear a size medium shirt, and I found that the Basic Essentials shirt fit very true to size. The shirt has a generous length, so it will be absolutely perfect for layering. Putting the clasps on my bra was easy, and they stayed put. This tank top is very well made, and comes in a variety of colors. The fabric is high-quality and very soft. This is easily the best tank top in my closet. The Basic Essentials shirt is $24.99, or you can get a bundle of two for only $40.
I also got a Premium Slimming shirt. This shirt is made of the same cotton and spandex combination, but it also features a slimming panel that starts just under the bust and continues to the hem of the shirt. I found that the Premium Slimming ran small, and I fit into a size large. The slimming panel is tight, but not restrictive. It does a nice job of smoothing my postpartum stomach. It is slightly longer than the Basic Essential shirt, but I like that the slimming panel covers more of my bottom and thighs. I have found that this shirt tends to bunch around my stomach, but this is not noticeable, when I layer it under another shirt. I am also quite pear-shaped so that could be contributing to the bunching. This shirt is just as well made and soft as the Basic Essential shirt. The Premium Slimming shirt is $34.99.
Not only does Undercover Mama have excellent, high quality nursing shirts, their customer service is fantastic. I had originally ordered the Premium Slimming shirt in size medium, but I couldn’t get it over my breastfeeding bosoms. I contacted them regarding an exchange, and they quickly sent me a shipping label. I mailed the shirt off and received a replacement within 5 business days. They were quick and helpful. I love to order from companies that back up their products with impeccable customer service.
