When I find something awesome, I can’t help but want to share it with everyone! Well friends, I have found something that is totally awesome and share worthy! I am referring to an adorable plush puppy called Read With Me Scout. It helps children ages 2-5 develop reading comprehension skills to get them on the path to reading. This puppy has over 70 different engagement and comprehension questions and comes with 5 board books!

Read with me Scout 1

This may just look like a cute toy, but it is sooooooooo much more! On the side of Scout’s collar there are 3 “modes” you can choose. The farthest one on the right is “OFF”. The middle notch is sleepy time mode. The one on the left is story time mode.

Read with me Scout 2 different modes

Scout has a very pleasant and soothing voice-which to me-was a relief! This isn’t one of those toys that you wish the batteries would run out of fast (please tell me that you have experienced this too–and I am not a terrible Mom for thinking it!). In sleepy time mode Scout reads all 5 of the board books and has 8 minutes of lullabies. This puppy is soft so he is nice to cuddle with too.

When you switch to story time mode Scout comes to life! As I mentioned earlier, Scout comes with 5 board books. The books are numbered and color coordinated. On the front of Scout’s collar you will see 5 buttons, that are also color and number coordinated. This is why this toy is so awesome. Scout will instruct her to “Find the purple book, it has a #2 on it, on the cover is….”  Scout gives several different descriptions and without help my 2 year old was able to pick out the correct book each time! It brought a smile to BOTH of our faces!

Once she found the correct book, she opened the book and looked at the pictures while Scout read. She knew it is time to turn the page when Scout prompted her to pat his head gently and turn the page. She gently patted the orange star on his head and Scout read the next page. This not only got her looking at the words/pictures, but taught her to be gentle. I love that added bonus!

While reading the book, the puppy will talk about the character(s) and what is happening on that page. He will ask questions and “wait” for answers. Another ADDED bonus-this teaches my daughter to be observant to not just the words but to the characters! When my 2 year old was done with the purple book, she pushed another colored button on the collar and was told how to find the next book!

I haven’t been able to keep my 2 year old out of dress up’s since Halloween, this day she decided to be a pirate….for fun!

There is a little heart on Scout’s left side of his face. This is a great place for kisses! Sometimes he will even ask for them, it is adorable, when my 2 year old says, “SURE!” and plants one on his cheek!

Scout responds to every touch. He always lets her know how much he loves her kisses! She gave him a lot! Here she is going to give him another kiss.

In addition to the heart on his face and the star on his head, he also has a musical paw that plays songs.

There is a paw that has a bone on it. This paw is all about being positive! When you touch this paw Scout says kind and encouraging phrases!

On his back Scout also has a spot that helps him interact with your little one during the stories!

This toy is so awesome! My 2 year old LOVED it! She was content playing with Scout, reading the books, and listening to the lullabies for over an hour and would have continued if I had not hauled her out the door to pick up her sister’s from school.

Read with me Scout following along

I have absolutely nothing negative to say about Read With Me Scout! It gets 5 out of 5 stars from my 2 year old and me! Read With Me Scout retails for $34.99 (but I just saw it on sale on amazon for only $29.97 here) What a deal-plus it is Prime eligible for free shipping! This will definitely be a hit this Christmas! Do you have a little one ages 2-5 that might enjoy this puppy too? It comes HIGHLY recommended from Cj at I Love My Kids Blog!

Scout “Very cute, he looks all soft and cuddly. I think it is a great learning toy for the younger kids, I like a educational toy that interacts with your child.

It does look very cute, but most importantly does it help your child with learning. Very good write up, thanks.

Using fun ways to get kids reading is sure to get them well on the path to learning. It matters what a parent contributes towards the schooling of their child. The idea of read with me books is a great one to encourage this. educationalplay.info
