3-8-1 Candles review

Every once in a while I come across a product line that really impresses me.  In this case the product line are homemade scented candles made by Wisconsin native Nicky Hildebrand.  The name of her company is 3-8-1 Candles and you can find them on the web at 3-8-1 candles.   The 3-8-1 stands for 3 words, 8 letters, 1 meaning = I love you.  I have to say I love the name idea just as much as I love her candles.

I was asked to review one of her special candles that came with a jewelry surprise embedded in the wax.  The scent was Strawberry shortcake and immediately after lighting the double wicked candle my kitchen smelled wonderful.  It was a sweet natural scent with no harsh chemical odors and it was not overpowering at all! The candle was placed in a square glass holder, which had a nice design on it along with the 3-8-1 logo.  The candle burned evenly and brightly.  After few hours I grew inpatient and started digging in the wax with a metal spoon for the piece of jewelry. With the wax soft I was able to dig out a really pretty ring. It took me few tries and my ring was all the way at the bottom of the candle. I wouldn’t suggest doing this at home since it can get quite messy.  And you can also ruin the candle like I ruined mine. As you can see from the pictures below I have a pile of wax set aside. My plan was to put wax back in the candle. But unfortunately the candle would not burn with the newly added wax.
With all said and done I guess you can say I need to learn some patience when it comes to burning candles with surprises in them.  But then again I was one of those kids who never wanted to wait until Christmas morning to open up the presents.
Here you can see a picture of the ring that I got from my candle:
The ring has Light pink large stone surrounded by clear crystals. The ring is very pretty and sparkly. It fits me perfectly too. I was surprised to see my ring had a .925 stamp on it. I then checked the 381 Candles web site and found out that all the jewelry they place in the candle is real. And they offer all types of jewelry such as bracelets, necklaces, rings, brooches, anklets and earrings.
The quality of the scent was outstanding as well as the candle itself. I would highly recommend to the company to use the glass covers/lids for the candle instead of thin plastic. As my candle arrived the plastic lid broke, but the candle was safe. I am very pleased and proud to support an entrepreneur whose products are made right here in the USA. However I did not like to see “Made in Thailand” tag attached to the ring. I suggest to remove the tags from all the jewelry.
Overall I am very impressed with my candle that I received from 381Candles.com. Because of the plastic lid and “Made in Thailand” sign I will give 381 Candles 3 stars out of 4.
Please feel free to check out their other scents and products online. Each candle cost from $3.50 to $33.00. And you can order your candle with or without a jewelry surprise inside.
