Wow I cannot believe it but the school year is almost over. It is hard to believe but the summer vacation will soon be upon us. It seems like yesterday that I was getting my kids ready for the start of a new school year. I guess with this extremely long and brutal winter it seemed like the school year was far from over. I mean come on when is the real spring weather going to arrive? Well with the spring and the end of the school year soon coming, the schools are gearing up for their end of year events. There are plays and shows that will be put on as well as dances, fundraisers and other events. Last year my kid’s elementary school put on a performance of “Jungle Book”. I wonder what they have in store for us this year?
With the theme of musicals and shows in mind I thought it would be good to introduce my young ones to some of my favorites on NETFLIX. One of my favs as a kid was and still is “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”. The title alone sounds like great fun to be had. The movie itself is sure not to disappoint. During the movie character Caractacus Potts and his family travel in their magical flying car to a mysterious place that has no children. Even though the movie dates back to 1968 it is still full of laughs and good time for the family.
Some other titles that you may enjoy with your kids are “High School Musical”,“Camp Rock”, and “Shrek the Musical”. Which I have to say was a little strange to watch. Especially after seeing all of the Shrek movies many times over. But then again it was a bit amusing to see Shrek being acted out live on a stage as opposed to in animation. There are so many other musicals and music themed movies out there that are kid friendly. It would be great if my readers can share with us some of their favorites. Then we can check out if they are available to watch on Netflix.
Check out our list of titles to stream on Netflix, then share one of your favorites with your kids. For older kids, we’ve pulled a list of our favorite musicals, and for little ones, we have a few fun sing-a-longs (perfect if you need something other than Let It Go in your head).
And speaking of Let It Go, moms, dads and older teens, be sure to check out Rent, starring Idina Menzel.

We got rid of cable and pretty much only watch Netflix. I love that they have a separate kids section for my daughter to choose from. I also really appreciate that they have a pretty big list of recommendations for us based on what we have watched.
