My son has autism, and because of that, life can be very challenging at times. Getting him to sit down and listen quietly, without being a huge distraction, is a constant battle. I am often looking for quiet activities that keep him engaged and calm, but still allow him to be integrated with children his own age. One thing that we have found that has worked wonders are color by number activities.
I am going to share a few websites with you that have free printables for you to use. The best part about these color by number activities is that children of all ages, with or without a disability, love them! I try to have a few different color by number activities printed and on hand whenever possible. I never quite know what one activity to prepare for with my son, so having different levels of difficulty readily available is a must.
Color By Number Activities
- Coloring Squared
This is one of my ALL TIME websites for color by number activities. My son will sit and work on these pictures for a long time. The benefit is that you don’t know what you are coloring, until it is nearly complete. We have spent a lot of time doing color by number pictures from this website. There is even a section of this website that created pictures with mathematical equations. Which makes it great for learning at home, or classroom activities as well. - Free Printables & Worksheets for 2-7 year olds
Education.com is a great resource for fun and educational activities that are free and easy to at home or school. The color by number activities are available up to a second grade challenge age. However, that doesn’t mean those older wont enjoy a good coloring activity from time to time. - Complex Printables
Not all color by number activities have to be easy. Nicole’s Free Coloring Pages has a few good complex printables that will be perfect for the more advanced colorer.
