I have reviewed a few games before and if you have seen those posts you know that we love games in out house. We usually get at least one game for our kids for Christmas and this year is no different. It is even more fun when are able to find games that the whole family will love playing. A gaming company I recently came across has a ton of family friendly games. The company is called Goliath Games and it might be my new favorite gaming company!
*I received the following products in exchange for my honest opinion.
We received five games from Goliath Games.
- Catch the Fox
- Jumping Jack
- Googly Eyes!
- Shark Bite
- Pop! the Pig
My husband and I opened each game and played them. We were very happy with them all except for one. I mention it now just so you know which we don’t recommend and then you can read on to read more about the ones we do. The one we weren’t too impressed with was Pop! the Pig. This game you are supposed to feed the pig burgers and the first person to pop his belly wins. It was fun at first but then our game broke and wouldn’t pop all the way. Fortunately all four of the other games were ones we do recommend!
This is Catch the Fox.
In this game you take turns putting chickens into the foxes’ pockets and pushing on his head. Eventually the foxes’ pants will “fall” off and the chickens will fall out. Everyone then needs to race, using one hand, to collect as many chickens as they can. The first person to collect five chickens in their chicken coop wins. This was a game we pulled out before Christmas and played with the kids. This is their new favorite game right now. They think it is so funny when the pants fall down and they get to race to collect the chickens.
This game is recommended for ages four and up and is for 2-4 players and is currently being sold at Walmart for $17.77.
This is Jumping Jack.
This game is similar to one I would play growing up, the alligator chomp game. Where one of the teeth was triggered so that if it was pushed in the alligator would chomp you. In this game one of the carrots is triggered so that if it is chosen the rabbit, Jack, will jump out of it’s rabbit hole. When this happens the winner is then chosen by whoever catches Jack or if he is not caught than the winner is whoever has the most carrots in their basket. This game was my favorite of all of the games. You had to stay alert so that you could be ready when Jack jumped!
This game is also recommended for four years and up and for 2-4 players. It is currently retailing at Amazon for $15.05.
This is Shark Bite.
This is a similar game to the last where something happens based off of a particular thing you choose. In this game instead of a rabbit jumping a shark will chomp based off of which fish you choose to take from it’s mouth. This was my husband’s vote for his favorite of the games. It has the same feeling of anticipation and excitement that the alligator game did as you choose and see if you are going to get “chomped” by the shark. The one thing that wasn’t the best about this game was that it was hard to pull the fish out with the hook. We ended up just using our hands to pull them out. This actually ended up making it even more exciting because it was your hand the shark would bite (which does not hurt at all).
This game is recommended for ages four and up and is for 2-4 players. It is currently retailing for $16.99 at Target.
This is the last game we played, it is called Googly Goggles.
While we were staying in a hotel this past summer (for about a month while we were waiting to move into our house), I ended up watching a lot of commercials. One commercial that stood out to me in particular was the commercial I saw for this game. It showed a family of four playing it together and it always looked like a lot of fun but also looking like a game I needed to try to see if it actually worked. In this game you will be in teams. Each team will slowly make it to the finish by playing Pictionary but it is not your typical game of Pictionary. While you are drawing you have to wear goggles that make it difficult to see (kind of like the drunk goggles that they have you wear in health class in high school).
On the commercial they made it look like that these silly looking glasses would make it very difficult for you to be able to draw. I tried the goggles out and it was right! These things make it very difficult to see anything. There are three separate lenses too that make the difficulty even harder depending on the color you land on on the board. One thing that wasn’t the best while playing was that the goggles made me SICK. It could be that I am eight months pregnant though. This will be a fun game to play as a family after my kids get it on Christmas morning!
This game is recommended for ages seven and up and for 4-16 players. It is currently retailing for $14.82 at Walmart.
All of these games were a lot of fun and are ones that are highly recommend!
These would be perfect gifts for a child who loves games or even for a parent who loves to play games with their family.
Who do you know who would love these games? Which would be their favorite? Let us know in the comments.
