We are just a few weeks away from the DVD release for Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, and my girls can not wait! As a child, the cartoon version was one of my all time favorite movies to watch. I spent hours upon hours singing, dancing, and pretending to be Belle, lost in a world of enchantment and make-believe. When Disney announced that they were creating a live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, I knew it was one I would plan to see with my children. My hope was that they too would love to reenact the movie, while dancing, singing and acting like Belle, just as I had.
JAKKS Pacific launched a fun and interactive line of toys and role-play items that bring the movie to life inside your own home. I was privileged to receive Belle’s Ball Gown, Belle’s Dress-up Accessory kit, and Baby Belle to review and share with you.
Belle’s Ball Gown and Dress-up Accessory kit was the perfect ensemble for my 5 year old daughter to wear out when we first went to see Beauty and the Beast in theaters. She loved the glistening of the ball gown, putting on her jewelry, and dancing around, just like Belle. She wouldn’t let anyone pass by without asking them if they thought she looked like the princess Belle. The two items together, are the perfect combination.
In the live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, we get a little glimpse into Belle’s childhood. We learn that as a baby, she was loved by both her mother and father, but her mother became gravely ill. As a token of remembrance, Belle had a little rose rattle that she would play with. This little rattle is the highlight feature of the Baby Belle doll.
My youngest daughter, who is just over 18 months old, has recently fallen in love with babies. The Baby Belle is a great doll for her to carry around, and for my older girls to play with. My youngest recognizes the similarities between the doll and the character in the movie. I love inspiring my children at young ages, and the Baby Belle is perfect for her and my older girls to play with.
The little rose rattle fits in the hand of Baby Belle, and is fun interact with. However, I was disappointed that it didn’t actually rattle. What is the fun of a baby rattle, if it doesn’t make any noise? Oh well, it is still cute and really does contribute to the overall look of the Baby Belle doll.
Belle’s Ball Gown
This gown is beautiful. It has two different layers of fabric with gold glitter details throughout. In the live-action adaptation, there is a scene where Belle’s gown is being created. In that scene, the gold detailing on the dress really becomes a big part of the beauty in the gown.
Belle’s Dress-up Accessory Kit
Although it is fun to have a dress, it is even more fun to have matching jewelry and hair accessories to go with it. Completing the ensemble, this dress-up accessory kit allows your child to really take on the role of Belle at the ball. It comes with clip on earrings, two hair combs with feather detailing, and the “tree of life” pendant necklace.
Baby Belle from Beauty and the Beast
This doll has a soft body, and real hair that comes styled. It is lightweight and great for a beginner doll for a young child. It comes with a little red rose rattle that can be placed into Belle’s hand.
I am excited for the movie release to have these items accessible so my daughters can dress-up and pretend to be princess Belle. Did you dress-up as a child and reenact Beauty and the Beast?
These toys, and others from this line, can be found at Toys R’ Us, Walmart, Target, and online.
