The Ultimate TMNT Playset Every Child Should Own

12/08/2016 By Lila Leave a Comment

About 25 years ago, or so, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT is what millennials reference them as now-a-days) were some of the hottest toys and characters around.  In the 90’s they phased out a bit but have started making a comeback in the toy and movie world.

Earlier this year Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows hit movie theaters around the globe and was later released on DVD. Since TMNT was making a popular comeback, the toy industry started producing new and exciting toys for children to play with.

One of those toys was the TMNT: Out of the Shadows City Sewer Lair Playset.

tmnt-city-sewer-lair-playsetThe City Sewer Lair Playset has over 15 features and multi-levels to play with.  Kids can recreate all of the Turtles’ best adventures from the movie, such as battling the Foot Clan on the street level and then escaping back to the Sewer Lair via the awesome water slide.

This playset is HUGE. When I first saw the box, I knew it was going to be big, but once it was assembled I was in awe at the actual size of it. Standing over 40-inches tall, this playset is one of the best I have ever seen.

Make sure that every piece is locked into place properly, or the playset will be flimsy and fall apart while your children play with it. Sheer force is needed on some of the pieces to get them properly installed.

The playset can be a little top heavy if it doesn’t have a good place on the floor. Thick carpet will make the playset seem off balance and possibly tip over while being played with.

The playset did not come with any TMNT action figures, which was pretty upsetting.  The suggested retail price for this toy is $99.99. For that much money, you would think the playset would include one or two action figures as well. Unfortunately is does not.  When you buy this playset, plan to buy a few TMNT action characters if you don’t already own some.  It is sad and frustrating to have such an awesome toy and no TMNT character toys to play with.

Playmates Toys provided me with this item for review. Regardless of our agreement, I was not required to write a positive review. The words expressed above are my own opinion. Enjoy
