Meet Lola. She is a 5-lb yorki who defied all odds to become one of the smallest certified therapy dogs in service. She travels to schools, elder care centers, and bookstores to help brighten the lives of those she visits.
Lola has a book series out featuring four books. Each book focuses on different challenges and fears that are faced in the world and how she overcame them.
My children love reading about Lola. The real life parallels between Lola’s experiences and those my children encounter are spot on. My kindergartner especially loved being able to snuggle with the Lola plush pet while listening to the books being read out loud.
The illustrations in each book are actual pictures of Lola working, and make it easy for children to understand and relate to.
Lola Goes to Work: A Nine-to-Five Therapy Dog
Children will identify with the feisty Lola as she struggles going to school, passing tests, and finally achieving her Big Dog dream. If Lola can make it in a world of Great Danes and Labradors, so can anybody who’s feeling like a runt.
Lola Goes to School
The lovable therapy dog from Lola Goes to Work has her first day at Doggy Daycare. Like anyone new to preschool or kindergarten, she’s a little bit nervous, a little bit scared, and very excited. Children will identify with Lola as she faces first-day-of-school jitters.
Lola Goes to the Doctor
Children will identify with Lola as she nervously waits to be called into the doctor’s office. Lola feels a little bit brave when the doctor looks into her ears, a little braver when he examines her teeth, and bravest of all when she gets a shot.
Lola & Tattletale Zeke
How do you deal with tattletales? When should you tell on someone? Lola struggles with her little brother Zeke and his tattletale behavior in this sequel to Lola Goes to Work.
Having this book series in my home has helped my children learn about the roles of therapy dogs, how to approach difficult situations with a calm mind, and proper ways to treat those they associate with.
This book series is ideal for teachers. Curriculum guides are provided for each book to help highlight discussion topics. Lola makes personal visits, and may even be able to visit your town. You can request a personal visit from Lola here.
Lola’s books can be purchased on amazon.com or in bookstores near you.
