No Heat, No Flame, No Problem with the S’more Maker Playset by Blip Toys

My family never really went camping much when I was a child, but when we did, one of my favorite things to do was sit around the fire roasting marshmallows and making s’mores. I really can’t explain why, but to me, s’mores are the ultimate childhood treat. My children love them, I love them…yumm, they are just so good.

The kids and I gathered around, on what happened to be a rainy and cold day, and together we learned how to make s’mores.

The S’more Maker Playset comes with all the necessary ingredients to make up to 10 mini s’mores.  Each playset comes with two bags of gram cracker mix, one bag of chocolate mix, and one bag of marshmallow mix. Alongside that, there is also a measuring tool, labeled mixing containers, and instructions on how to properly make these yummy s’mores.

Taking turns, my kids each helped measure and mix all the ingredients. It would have been nice to see a more kid friendly recipe to follow, however. My children don’t have much experience reading a recipe, and it would have been nice to break down the step by step instructions more visually, in perhaps a cartoon type storyline.

smore-maker-playsetThe S’more Maker Playset is recommended for children 6+ years of age, with adult supervision.  So, together with three of my four children, we spent good quality time together learning how to properly make s’mores.

This is a very fun and educational playset to have in our home. The first thing we did was take turns mixing the necessary ingredients in the bowls provided. As each step was completed, the excitement grew.  Using only the mixtures and water, we created the gram crackers, marshmallow, and chocolate.

Once you have the toppings added in, simply slide the gram cracker you made in “fire” and then press and hold the marshmallow and chocolate buttons to add the toppings just how you like it. Presto, you have just made your first s’more!

Rain, snow or wind can’t prevent this delightful treat from being enjoyed.  My children not only learned how exciting cooking can be without the dangers of heat or sharp blades, but they also gain other life-skills by playing with this toy. I look forward to indoor campouts this winter using the Yummy Nummies S’more Maker Playset as the center of our creativity.
