Learn With The New LeapFrog Count Along Register!

LeapFrog’s new Count Along Register is a fun and interactive way for little ones to learn! With healthy food options to purchase, catchy songs, counting and a fun light up face this register is flat out fun! It’s recommended for ages 2 and up, but honestly even this “old” Mom has fun playing with it! The Count Along Register from LeapFrog comes with 20 pieces. All the pieces are not shown below because they were in my 2 year old’s hands and she was having such a fun time with them I didn’t want to take them away….so please imagine a loaf of bread and a couple more coins. 😉
Leapfrog register accesoriesWe had seen these before in the toy aisle of our local store and my littlest sat the whole time with one listening to it sing. I knew it would be the perfect gift for her 2nd birthday! I was right:

Needless to say, she was thrilled. I wish I could have caught more on video before the batteries gave out. I was wise enough to take a photo of the complete set before I un-boxed it and you can see the bread and 2 other coins!

Count Along Register Features

There different fun features of this register. The upper part has a cheerful face that lights up when buttons are pushed. It has the numbers 1-10 on it. When pressed it says it’s number. It doesn’t add anything to your total. It also sings when you press numbers. It also has the 8 healthy grocery items pictured. When you press the button (say the carrots for example) It not only describes the item but also the color which is a clever way to have your little one learn more without even realizing it! When you click a pictured item it adds it to your total. Leapfrog register light up register

You can also add items to your total by scanning them on the red scanner on the side. It doesn’t specify what it is you are buying, but it fun to do. My 8 year old is demonstrating how to scan cheese in the picture below. You also get a shopping card. I initially thought maybe it was a credit card, but it isn’t. When scanned it sings songs or says phrases like “You’re my favorite customer” or “There is a sale on green peas today” etc. To find out your total cost, you press the total button on the main screen. It will tell you how many items you scanned and how many coins you need to pay.

While you insert the coins it will count and this is the part where your little one can count along as well! There is a certain slot just for the coins below the total button. You slide them in and they fall into the register drawer. This gives my little one practice on her coordination and she loves to do it over and over again. If you slide in an extra coin then what you are supposed to say, it says, oh you paid too much, thanks for the tip! It’s adorable. My 5 year old does it on purpose just so she can leave a tip. My 9 year old who likes to ask “what if I did this…”pressed the scanner button 11 times. The Count Along Register then said, do you have that many coins? Another valuable lesson live within your means! 😉 That made me wonder what would happen if I were to scan 15 times. It just started singing songs at that point. The limit seems to be 10 items at a time which makes sense with the amount of coins.

To retrieve the coins, press the red button below the coin slot and the drawer will open. We once had the drawer open and one child put a coin in. I thought for sure it would get stuck behind the drawer and I’d be performing emergency toy surgery within minutes but LeapFrog designed it so well that the coin remained in the coin slot until the drawer was closed!

I think the things that impressed me the most was that despite multiple kids using multiple features on it at the same time it seemed to keep up with them, first a scan, then the coin count, but no feature was skipped over. We have had this toy for about 2 weeks and it seriously has been played with EVERY SINGLE DAY! In addition to that, all of my kids play with it, they range ages 2-9. It has 2 different volume levels which I like as well. In the 2 weeks we have had it, my 2 year old now says yellow like a pro and is getting better at her colors and saying the word grapes. Overall I would give this Count Along Register 5 out of 5 stars!
