If you have seen a newly released kid’s movie lately, then there is a high probability that you have heard of the new animated movie coming to theaters in July called The Secret Life of Pets. Our friends at SpinMaster are excited to announce the release of their new toy line revolving around the characters of The Secret Life of Pets.
SpinMaster provided me 5 mini pet figurine packages and a Max Walking talking Pet so I could form an opinion and share it with you. Regardless of this arrangement, I was not required to give a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own honest thoughts.
These toys are adorable and very true to the characters you see on the screen. In my home, we don’t own any pets, except a fish. My children talk frequently about wanting a dog, so when these toys arrived, my 4 year old daughter was elated to have her own “pets”. She loves animals, and having her own pets to play with made her very happy.
The mini pet figurine toys are fun and very cute. When you go to buy them, you don’t know what toy you are getting because the packaging hides the identity of what is inside. The figurines could be regular, gold, or silver in color. Unlike other hidden package toys, if you really wanted to know which toy you were going to be getting, you just have to feel the bag, and you could narrow it down pretty easily. I thought the reduced element of surprise was a little disappointing, but you still don’t know what color it will be, so it isn’t all wasted in knowing what character it is. The Series 1 characters include the stars of the film: Duke, two versions of Max, Buddy, Chloe, Gidget, Croc, and two version of Snowball. The super cute figures range from 1 to 3 inches in size and feature some nice detailing. These toys are perfect for imaginative play.
Max, the Walking Talking Pet, is also a fun and interactive toy for children 4 and up. By pressing a button on the back of Max, he says phrases from The Secret Life of Pets and then hops around. When my daughter was playing with this toy, she found on the bottom of Max’s belly that there is a switch. That switch allows you to change Max’s movements from single hopping to continuous movements. It even allows you to turn off the toy as well so that it will not talk or hop. There are four different Walking Talking Pets available for purchase Max, Mel, Gidget and Snowball.
My 4 year old daughter has loved playing with The Secret Life of Pets toys. She is able to use her imagination and can group-play with the toys together. In addition to that, she enjoys being creative and playing with them alongside her older siblings as well, and they like are often asking to play with the toys as well.
If you are looking for toys that encourage imaginative play and make your children feel like they have pets of their own. Then I definitely recommend you look into these products. I know that when we go see the movie, we will have these cute toys alongside us. I am excited to see how my daughters’ playing and imagination increase after she has seen the movie.
