The WonderMix Stand Mixer- The Kitchen Stand Mixer Built for Life!

02/19/2015 By Cj 8 Comments

Are you looking for the best stand mixer out there? So was I! I’ve had a chance to try a Kitchen Aid, a Bosch and now I’ve got my hands on the new WonderMix by WonderMill! This stand mixer has some awesome features that I can’t wait to tell you about and I have a yummy salted caramel frosting recipe to share with you, but first let me tell you what is included with the WonderMix stand mixer!

WonderMix included partsThe WonderMix stand mixer comes with a powerful 900 watt motor and a direct drive high torque transmission inside a sturdy-no walking- base! In understandable words–that basically means that this is is the kind of power that you will find in high end commercial mixers-for a home use mixer price!

WonderMix base

You can choose to operate it using the bowl attachment (on the left side) or use the optional blender attachment (on the upper right side) by simply removing the plate cover and switching it to the other port. The bowl and the blender shouldn’t ever both be in place at the same time to avoid damaging the motor.

One feature I love about the base is the hidden cord storage. Just tilt the base unit on it’s side and open the cord storage door.

WonderMix cord storage open

While the stand mixer is in place, the cord fits securely into the “cord slot” so you can put your base on the level counter top.

When it is time to store your WonderMix you just replace the cord into the storage compartment for easy storage!

WonderMix cord storage compartment

This stand mixer is unlike any I have seen before because it has a removable drive shaft and comes with a spare drive shaft.

WonderMix drive shafts

The drive shaft securely fits into the power port.

The WonderMix comes with this stain resistant, dishwasher safe, mixing bowl. I love that it has an easy to hold handle on the side so when it comes time for scraping, I can actually hold the bowl instead of trying to cradle it in my arm. I love this feature, because my fingers fit perfectly in the finger spaces on the bottom side of the bowl.

WonderMix Bowl handle

Perhaps my favorite feature about this bowl is it is a 22 cup mixing bowl! 22 CUPS! Isn’t that awesome?! You can mix dough for up to 6 loaves of whole wheat bread at one time! I will let that sink in for a moment! 22 CUPS!

Did it sink in yet? 😉 I think 22 cups/6 loaves of bread is amazing!

To place the mixing bowl onto the base/drive shaft, just center it over the drive shaft and lock into place by turning counter clockwise.

WonderMix how to place bowl on base

Another great feature from the WonderMix stand mixer is it’s unlocking lever located on the left side of the base. To remove the bowl, you just press the lever down and turn the mixing bowl clockwise.

WonderMix release button

It comes with a dough hook and a dough divider attachment. When you combine the dough hook attachment and the divider, it can knead bread quickly while developing 100% of the gluten in only 5 minutes.

The French Whips attachment are awesome because they actually reach the bottom of the bowl. I always hate when I scrape my other stand mixers of the past and there is a big blob of the 1st ingredient stuck to the bottom of the bowl because the attachments didn’t reach the whole way! These french whips are great for whipping creams, light weight batters, and egg whites. They are not ideal for bread dough, cookies, or any heavy dough.  That is what the cookie whips are best for!

WonderMix attachments touch bottom of bowl

Cookie whips are an optional attachment and are great for cookies and other stiff batters!

Another optional attachment is the blender, which is heavy duty! In the video demonstrating the Wondermix, the guy actually steps on the blender! This really is built for life! The hardened stainless steel blades and heavy duty motor of the base make the blender tough and versatile to turn ice into “snow”. It is a 6 cup blender and can blend 4.5 cups at a time to allow for adequate mixing room.

blenderWonderMix also comes with this locking lid system.

WonderMix lidsThis stand mixer couldn’t have come to my house at a better time to get well used! Within the first 7 days I had it, I made:

  • Salted Caramel Cupcakes from scratch with a homemade salted caramel frosting (for a dinner party)
  • A 3 tiered birthday cake for my just turned 4 year old’s birthday party
  • 2 batches of homemade butter cream frosting for that birthday cake
  • Andes Mints cupcakes with homemade cream cheese mint frosting (for a baby shower I helped host)
  • Valentines Day treats for my 2 older kid’s school v-day parties

Honest blogger review of the WonderMix kitchen stand mixer!

I used this awesome stand mixer a lot last week and have an honest review to share with you! As I mentioned above I have used a Bosch and a Kitchen Aid in the past. I loved the tall bowl of the Kitchen Aid but I loved the width of the bowl and the lid of the Bosch that prevented dry ingredients from flying everywhere. The WonderMix stand mixer combined what I LOVED about both the Kitchen Aid and the Bosch and made it into one very powerful mixer! It’s like WonderMix read my mind!

As I began making the salted caramel cupcakes from scratch I quickly realized how awesome it was to have a tall AND a wide bowl in one. I needed to double the recipe and loved how much space I had in the bowl. The batter for this particular recipe was more like a cookie recipe to start so I used the cookie whips attachment. WonderMix remove lid for easy adding

I absolutely LOVED that the whips reached the bottom of the bowl. I didn’t have to stop and scrape the bottom of the bowl once. Also because the bowl is uniquely shaped there was little need to even scrape the sides because the whips reached the sides too! In the picture below, I was completely done mixing the batter and I hadn’t needed to scrape the sides or bottom of the bowl even once!

WonderMix no need to scrapeWhen I added the dry ingredients, I loved that the mixer could still be going and I could add without fear of being “dusted” with flour!

WonderMix add dry ingredients without making a messI loved that there were 3 different speeds. Speed 1 is the incorporating speed, speed 2 is mixing speed, and speed 3 is fast mixing speed. The pulse option lets you control the speed if you are folding in ingredients. WonderMix Speeds

As I mentioned above I love the handle on the mixing bowl. It made it easy to pour, reach in, and scrape the bowl. My 4 year old, who loves to be a helper, even dropped the mixing bowl not just once but twice. I was pleased that it was tough enough to handle my 4 year old.

WonderMix large mixing bowl

I put the WonderMix stand mixer to the test this past week and I am a HUGE fan! It has so many wonderful features! In addition to what I’ve mentioned there are 4 other optional attachments: slicer/shredder, grain flaker, grain mill, and a meat grinder which I will share a review on at a later date. Thanks to my WonderMix making so many goodies in just a couple days time was a whole lotta fun! Here are a few of the things I made last week!

jake and the neverland pirates cakeThe attachments were easy to pop on and off and the owners manual came with several recipes to try. The salted caramel frosting recipe I made was delicious that I have to share! I originally found it on Sally’s Baking Addiction and made some changes to the frosting recipe. The from scratch cupcakes sunk on me, so I will just use a box mix next time, but the frosting was divine!

Homemade Salted Caramel Frosting

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) salted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2-3 cups powdered sugar

Directions:

Melt the butter in a saucepan. Add brown sugar and milk. Stir constantly over medium heat until sugar is dissolved. Add salt. Allow to bubble/boil for 3 full minutes, no more or the consistency of your frosting will be off. Remove from heat and let it cool for about 15 minutes. Do not place in the refrigerator to cool. Using the WonderMix Stand Mixer with the large lid in place. At speed #2, beat in powdered sugar 1 cup at a time, until you reach desired consistency. At this point you can add 1-2 TBS of milk to get the consistency you desire. I added 2 TBS to make the perfect piping consistency. Add a dash more salt if the frosting tastes too sweet.

delicious Salted Caramel frosting recipe

I think my only critique of the WonderMix would be that because the bowl is so tall, I did get frosting on my  forearm a couple of times. I am not sure that I would count that as a bad thing though. 😉 To do a quick sum up review of this blog post: I am hooked on this WonderMixer! I love it’s tall bowl, I LOVE that the mixing componets reach the bottom of the bowl and there was no need to scrape the sides of the bowl like other stand mixers. I love it’s lid so I can add dry ingredients and they don’t go flying everywhere! I love that it is easy to attach the bowl and take it off with the safety lever on the side, I love the cord can hide for storage, I love it’s speeds, I love it’s capacity. I love it seem lighter than other stand mixers. I LOVE IT!

Never heard of the WonderMix so far.
Great capacity, great speed and – especially – the proper mixing abilities speak for itself. So now I have to figure out how to save up 379 $ to buy it. 😉
