N is for Necklace, Nacho, Nest and Ninja: Preschool Activities for the Letter N

These are the activities we did for the letter N!

The first letter N activity we did was make noodle necklaces.

All you need for this activity is yarn or string and hollow noodles, we used ziti because it was what we had on hand. Tie a double knot on one end of the piece of yarn and have your child thread the noodles onto the yarn. Once they are done tie the ends of the yarn together. This is an easy activity and can last as long or as short as your child’s attention wants it to. There are also other fun things to do like add other items to the necklace like beads. You can also dye the noodles different colors! So many ways to personalize their creations.

The next letter N activity we did was make nachos for lunch.

Ingredients:

  • Tortilla Chips (we didn’t have any on hand so we made some from corn tortillas in our air fryer)
  • Cheddar Cheese
  • Tomatoes
  • Beans (we used refried beans but black or kidney beans would also be good options)
  • Cooked chicken
  • Cilantro
  • Guacamole
  • Any other toppings your family likes

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Lay out your chips on a baking sheet.
  3. Top with cheddar cheese, as much or as little as you want. Then top with any of your other desired toppings like beans, chicken, etc. Set cold toppings to the side for later.
  4. Bake in the oven for about 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is melted.
  5. Take out of oven and top with the cold toppings like cilantro, tomatoes and guacamole.

This is such an easy and delicious meal to make and such an easy one to customize to your family’s specific likes. It is also a great meal to have while doing a movie night. The way we like to eat our nachos is to place the baking sheet in the middle of the table and all eat off of it. For some reason it just makes me feel like we are bonding more over our meal.

The next letter N activity we did was make edible nests.

Ingredients:

  • 6 Large Shredded Wheat Biscuits
  • 1 C Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1/2 C Chunky Peanut Butter
  • Jelly Beans

Directions:

  1. Have your child break up the biscuits in a bowl.
  2. Heat the chocolate chips in the microwave 30 seconds at a time. Continue until melted and then stir.
  3. Stir in the peanut butter to the melted chocolate chips.
  4. Stir the chocolate peanut butter mixture into the shredded biscuits.
  5. Spoon the mixture into a mini muffin tin. Fill each with the biscuit mixture then push the center down with a spoon to make the center of the nests.
  6. Place in the fridge for 2 hours.
  7. Remove from the tin with a knife. Place jelly beans into the nests.

This activity was fun because it produced such a cute result. I mean they really do look like nests! This recipe made about 20 mini nests so it would be a fun activity to do and share with friends during a play date.

The last letter N activity we did was make diy ninja masks from tshirts.

All you need for this is a big tshirt, we used one of my husband’s. First you place the shirt over your child’s head with the top of the shirt around their face. Pull the sleeves behind their head and tie them together. Then roll the part of the shirt by their chin to hide the seam and pull up over their nose. Also roll the part of the shirt near their forehead, also to hide the seam. Then pretend to be ninjas!

We had a lot of fun with our letter N activities. Which of these do you think your child would enjoy the most? What other letter N activities should I try next with my kids?
