I should start by saying that I am not a makeup person. To give you an idea, we have been living in Texas for about 5 months now and I have worn makeup three times. Even those three times were just the bare minimum of makeup like foundation, eye shadow and blush. Don’t even ask me about contouring, I have no idea what that is! So lipstick is totally out of my wheel house. Lip gloss is typically what I do use if anything. Then I met Katherine who sells Senegence products and one of their products is LipSense. I had heard a little about it before but had never tried it. So meeting someone I actually knew who sold this product I knew I needed to give it a try.
*I received the following products in exchange for my honest opinion.
First of all check out how adorable Katherine is!
The best thing about buying from an individual distributor, especially from Katherine, is that you know they care about how your experience with their product is going to be. She could have easily sent me the LipSense starter kit in a package with nothing else. But that is not how she runs her business. She wants to show her customers that she cares about the experience that they have buying from her as well as caring about what they think of the product it self. So she sent me the starter kit in an adorable pouch.
What I found inside the pouch.
Inside the pouch I found my LipSense goodies and a fun surprise, two mints, along with business cards from Katherine. The mints are such a simple touch but it just shows that Katherine is all about going above and beyond for her customers!
What is LipSense and is it worth it?
LipSense is like a lipstick that temporarily stains your lips so you don’t have to keep reapplying all day or night. It also means it won’t come off while you are eating, drinking, talking or kissing. In the starter kit for LipSense you get a color (of your choice), a glossy gloss and a remover. The application process is one that I had to get used to, especially for being someone who didn’t wear any type of lipstick ever. You have to apply it three times and make sure to stay within your lips or it will stain the skin you get it on. Although that is a bonus of having the remover is if you do mess up you can easily remove it and start over. After just a couple times of using it I was able to get the hang of applying the lipSense without going “outside the lines”.
Then after you apply the lipSense you will apply the glossy gloss as well as throughout the day. I found that I had to reapply the glossy gloss about once every hour. This helps “seal” the LipSense onto your lips. The glossy gloss is great! It does so well at hydrating my lips which is nearly impossible right now with it being winter and me being 7 months pregnant and horrible at drinking enough water. With the glossy gloss my lips feel like satin.
How did it work?
The above picture was after about five hours of wearing the LipSense. Still a lot of color remaining. This was also after I had eaten dinner as well which did nothing to take the color off! It is incredible to me how amazingly this works. Then a couple hours after this picture I used the remover. This is easy to do. Just wipe down your lips with the remover and wipe your lips (I use a wash cloth) and repeat two more times since you put it on in layers. Then your lips are clean and ready for a new color for when you wake up the next day!
The starter kit is a bit pricey, $55, and was something I wasn’t sure was worth the money but I learned that it is. Also remember that I am not a makeup person so this is saying a lot. I wear it about once a week, usually on Sundays, so I know for me this will last a long time. For someone who uses lipstick more often than that, a tube should last you about 4-6 months and after that it is only $25/color and $20/glossy gloss.
