My two year old already loves screens, the tv, the computer and especially my phone. I am fine with this, handing her my phone is a great way to distract her while I get a few things done around the house but she knows how to work my phone better than I do and because of this there is a danger of her getting on things that she should not be on. An example of this was one day when I put her on the YouTube kids app and a few minutes later I hear a loud swear word come from across the room. She had exited the kids app and went on the normal YouTube app and found a video of some guys doing bike tricks and using language I do not want my two year old listening to. I knew then that if I wanted to continue letting my daughter play games or watch videos it would have to be on a device I would know she could not access anything that I didn’t approve of and that is how I found LeapFrog’s LeapPad Platinum.
The LeapPad Platinum is the “Next Generation of Learning Fun”.
There are more than a thousand games, books, songs and more to add to the LeapPad Platinum to help your child learn in many ways, through math, reading and much more. It is easy to use, and the kids these days are so tech savvy that they will have no problem figuring it out, probably quicker than us adults could. It is sleek and light weight has a 7 inch screen that makes it easy to see all the is going on.
Above shows everything that I got with my LeapPad Platinum.

First lets look closer at the LeapPad Platinum Tablet.
One of the coolest features of the tablet are the cameras. There is one in the front and one on the back (the one pictured above is on the front). The kids can use these cameras to take pictures to store on their device, use for interactive apps (like the imagicards) and who knows maybe it will spark the interest of some kids to want to start up photography.
Another great feature of the LeapPad Platinum is the Stylis. Since the screen is so shiny and smooth it picks up fingerprints very easily so with the stylis you can avoid that and avoid having to wipe the screen off as frequently. The Stylis is padded on the tip so it won’t dent or damage the screen and it is easy to use for any of it’s purposes.
Another great way that kids can navigate through the LeapPad Platinum without having to dirty the screen is with the keypad and the home button. I feel like a lot of the time with tablets like this the buttons on it are sticky or hard to push but the buttons on the LeapPad Platinum are very easy to use and I needed to use very little effort to push them but they are also out of the way so they won’t be accidentally pushed while kids are playing a game.
One more feature of the tablet is that there is an option to buy cartridges for games and you can also buy apps directly on the tablet (this feature is of course can be parent protected so your child doesn’t spend all of your money on elmo games). I love that this tablet has cartridges, it reminds me of when I was little and played on my Gameboy, so in a way it is a way that my daughter and I can bond. I also love that you can buy the apps directly on the tablet because I also remember loosing my Gameboy cartridges as a kid so I know that that will likely happen with my daughter as well.
The LeapPad Platinum comes with a wall charger.
The tablet holds a charge on it’s own 5+ hours which is great for road trips, airplane rides or even just for a day around the house but I also like how you can plug the tablet in and use it while it is charging.
LeapPad Platinum comes with fun interactive cards called Imagicards.
The tablet comes with 6 cards that are called imagicards. They are used on the imagicard app and they come to life. You can collect more cards for more fun.
To check out the imagicards and the rest of the tablet in action check out this short video I took.
I can’t wait for my daughter to open up her LeapPad Platinum tablet from Leapfrog on Christmas morning. I know she is going to love it and I love it because it is a great way for her to have fun while learning! This is a great gift idea for kids of either gender for ages 3-9 years, but I could def see this being played with for a couple years past that.
Let me know in the comments below why you think your child would love to get the LeapPad Platinum for Christmas!
