The Drink Up initiative is one that is hitting America with a “splash”. The Drink Up team is all about Americans drinking more water. Why? Well water is the healthiest beverage and why wouldn’t it be, it is over half of your body composition. I personally know that drinking water is a hard thing to do a lot of the time so I wanted to help the Drink Up initiative and my fellow Americans by sharing a few of the ways that helps me “Drink Up” more water.
1. Always carry a full water bottle around with you.
This one helps me a lot. It helps because if I am out at the store or at the park and I get thirsty I am able to reach down and grab my water to help keep myself hydrated. It is important to remember to refill your bottle as soon as the water is gone so you always have a bottle of water to remind you to keep drinking.
2. Add ice to your water.
I like this because it is way easier to drink cold water than it is to drink warm water. It also is a good way to keep yourself cool during the hot summer months.
3. Get yourself some Fresh Baby collapsible water bottles.
These are great because you can have more than one of them in your bag, for yourself and your kids, and they won’t take up the whole bag.
4. Infuse your water with fruit.
In order to do this you can buy a special water bottle that has a separate compartment for you to add fruit to. I am not a big fan of this but I know A LOT of people who are, including my husband.
5. Join the Drink Up initiative.
You can do this by posting pictures of water and using #H2OCourse in your post. This will help spread the word that drinking water is important and should be done more and it will encourage you to drink more water so that you can take another fun picture.
6. Use a water bottle that has markings for the amount of ounces.
This really helps me because I can see how much water I have had to drink in the past hour or since I woke up and I can see if I need to drink more.
7. Set a goal for yourself.
One of the goals I set for myself concerning drinking water was to drink at least 10 ounces of water every hour. If I didn’t drink the 10 ounces and I see that it is the end of the hour I have to chug that water. So to make it easier for myself I try and slowly drink that 10 ounces throughout the hour so I am not having to force it into my mouth.
8. Put reminders on your phone.
I may not always have a bottle of water with me but I know I do always have my phone with me so what better place could I put reminders for myself? You could combine this with your goal setting so you are being constantly reminded to drink that 10 ounces of water.
9. Get a water drinking buddy.
One of our other bloggers from the I Love My Kids blog and I were both working on drinking water at the same time so we decided we would be each other’s motivators. We would send each other challenges in the middle of the day, “drink one glass of water right now”, and we would send each other snapchats of our full and then empty glasses or water bottles. It was a fun way to keep motivated.
10. Visit the Drink Up water fountain in New York.
This is obviously a little inconvenient for some people but if you happen to be in New York you can visit this fountain. What is so great about the Drink Up fountain? Well when your lips touch the water it talks to you and tells you about how important it is to drink water. What a fun way to learn more about the importance of water.
