Little Mommy- Let’s Make Music Doll Review

06/26/2014 By Ashley 4 Comments

Recently I noticed that my one and a half year old was playing with her baby doll a lot. It is just a doll from the dollar store but she loves it anyway! She feeds it with one of her old bottles and even puts her down to sleep, it is the sweetest and makes me feel a little less worried about how she is going to be with the new baby in December. She also loves music and always has. When a song comes on that she likes everyone in the room will know because she will immediately start shacking her butt.

That’s why I was excited to get the Little Mommy- Let’s Make Music Doll from Mattel because it was both of those things, a doll and something that made music, but I guess when I was looking into the doll I had not realized exactly what it does, it turned out to be a lot cooler than I had originally thought.

Doll in Package 2

Above is the Little Mommy doll in her package. She comes with 5 instruments and she says over 95 phrases (shown on the box). When I got the doll I had thought that you would press a button and it would play songs that you could play the instruments along with it. After opening the package and looking closer I learned that this doll did something entirely different but entirely better. When you press the button you talk to the doll and it records what you say and puts it into a song, there are many songs it uses like a chipmunk song that it turned my husband’s voice into.

Doll Heart

How you make this doll work is with the heart shaped button on it’s chest. You press the button and after a few seconds it will light up like in the picture to the right. While the heart is lit up that is when it is recording your voice. After about 20 seconds of recording your voice it then waits 30 seconds and puts what you said into a song. My daughter doesn’t quite get what the doll is doing but she loves buttons and music so she really enjoys playing with the doll and giving her loves.

Dolls Hand

After the song has been recorded and played you can then record a new song by pressing the heart button on her chest or if you want to hear the last song you recorded again all you have to do is press the button on the dolls left hand, the hand with the heart on it. Pretty simple and a lot of fun! My husband and I were cracking up because some of the songs it turns your voice into are pretty funny especially if you catch you child whining, those are the funniest songs!

Instruments

Along with this doll you will also get 5 instruments that your child can play along with the music the doll provides. The instruments are a kazoo, slide whistle, maraca, castanet, and a tambourine. My daughter’s favorite of the five is the slide whistle, she hasn’t figured out how to make noise but she loves moving the slide.

Savannah playing slide flute

So cute right?

I am glad I was able to get this toy for my daughter, it is always fun to see her interact with new things and see her smile because of something I got her.

*I received samples of the products mentioned above for free to facilitate this post. All opinions are mine.

My niece has one of these and loves it. She is a big fan of the kazoo and calls her dolly Riva the Diva. LOL

    Good review. Thanks!

Wow, 95 phrases!! That’s quite a vocabulary for a doll. She’s adorable, and I love themusical influence. Our Family is very musically inclined.
