P is for Popcorn, PomPom, Pizza and Pig: Preschool Activities for the letter P

Here are the activities we did for the letter P!

The first activity we did for the letter P was play with popcorn kernels.

All you need for this activity is popcorn kernels and a surface to play with them on. We used a paper plate but some other ideas would be a cookie sheet, plastic plate, or even right on the table if you are brave enough. First we drew the letter P in our popcorn. Then we tried to think of different things that start with P and then tried to draw those. It was pretty hard to tell what a lot of our drawings actually were but we didn’t care because it was still a lot of fun!

The next letter P activity we did was make a P out of pompoms.

Supplies:

  • Pompoms
  • Paper
  • Pen
  • Glue

How to do this activity:

  1. Draw a big letter P on the piece of paper.
  2. Glue the pompoms on top of the letter P.

Super simple, quick and easy. one more thing we were able to implement during this activity was patterns. Another P word and a great thing for young children to start learning about.

Another letter P activity we did was make pizzas.

This activity was a fun one and one that can be personalized for any family. We ended up making these during a week when my husband was out of town so instead of making the dough I went with some pre-made dough, they were kind of like tortillas. Then I put together all of our topping options in different bowls and put them in front of my kids so they could put together their own pizzas. Some of the toppings we used were sauce, mozzarella, chicken, pepperoni, mushrooms and olives. My kids loved getting to make and eat their own creations.

The last letter P activity we did was make a pig.

Supplies:

  • Kid Friendly Paint
  • Paper Plate
  • Paint Brush
  • Construction Paper
  • Glue
  • Scissors

How to do this activity:

  1. Paint the paper plate completely pink. Set to the side to dry.
  2. Cut out a nose and ears from pink construction paper. Another cute idea would be to cut out a tail as well.
  3. Once the paint on the paper plate is dry, glue the nose and ears to it.
  4. Paint on the nostrils, mouth, and eyes. My daughter also added a bow for her girl pig.

This activity turned out so adorable and is one of those activities that each child can make their own by adding their own little touches to it.

Can you think of any other fun letter P activities? Which of the ones from above would your child like the most?
