If you’re looking for an honest pillow review of one of Contour Living’s line of comfort pillows, you’ve come to the right place! My husband and I each got to choose a pillow from their comfort line to review. What you will read below is our honest opinions (regardless of our arrangement) on the two pillows we tried. My husband received a Cloud Cool Air pillow and I chose the Ortho Fiber for this pillow review.
Contour Cloud Cool Air pillow review for back and side sleepers!
I need to start out by saying that for the last 5 years I have been on a mission to find a replacement for my husband’s OLD pillow that he was incredibly attached to. I can’t even count the amount of pillows I’ve purchased that just weren’t as good as his old pillow. A LOT! Some he’d try for 20 minutes, some for half the night, I was blown away when I woke up after his first night trying the cloud cool pillow to see that it was on the bed and he had used it all night! What was unique about this pillow is it has two different heights on the top and bottom of the pillow, so the person can choose which level is best for them. It provides support to the neck and the head and is made out of a 3-layer ventilated system so you don’t get too hot while you sleep.
I asked my husband his thoughts on the pillow and he said:
Thirteen years with the same pillow can cause one to form somewhat of an unhealthy bond. I could never find that pillow that made me just say “ahhh” when I laid down. The firm then gradual head absorption in the Cloud Cool pillow lasts over twenty seconds is the perfect combination of resilient plushness. My head is not to high, not bouncing around, and I sure don’t need my hands under my pillow any more to give me adequate support. This pillow is nice to lay on while on your back, but it really shines for my side sleeping. This pillow is not overly large or too small either, it’s minimalist characteristics deliver service extraordinaire without the added square footage. I loved my old pillow. That is why I reached for it in the dark every time when my wife would buy a replacement pillow to replace “ol’nasty”. While my old pillow has been my faithful companion for many dreams, my new pillow is the stuff dreams are made of!
He has been using the Contour Living pillow for almost 2 full weeks and I am happy to say that “ol’nasty” has been replaced! This pillow is a spot clean only pillow as it is foam but the cover is machine washable in cold water.
Pillow review for the Ortho Fiber pillow from Contour Living
My pillow wasn’t near as old as my husbands, but I had been on the market looking for the perfect pillow too. I am a side, back, and stomach sleeper so it is hard to find a pillow that works well for all of those sleep positions. I read about the Ortho Fiber pillow and decided to give it a try. When I received it, it was different than any pillow I’d ever seen before. It has a contoured “sweet zone” that allows your head to rest comfortable while your head, neck, and spine are naturally supported. Plus, it is incredibly soft and comfortable!
I decided to keep a pillow review log and write each morning (so I could share a full honest review with you readers) how the night went and how I felt when I woke up. Here is my pillow review log:
Wednesday: I received the pillows yesterday, they came securely packaged in a thick bag envelope. The pillow itself was wrapped in plastic and then in it’s display box. I opened the pillow last night before bed. It is like no other pillow I’ve used before. I laid my head on it while on the living room floor and thought, what a strange shaped pillow. I placed my traditional pillow case on it and headed to bed.
I went to bed at 11:30 pm and fell asleep comfortably almost instantly (which is rare for me-it usually takes a good 45 minutes to fall asleep). At 2:45 am my 2 year old came in crying saying she had bit her tongue and needed a hug. I pulled her up into bed and and gave her a hug. Due to the “sweet zone” the pillow isn’t great for sharing with a toddler….but for that matter, is there ANY pillow is great to share with toddler who takes up 95% of the pillow, nope! She eventually fell back asleep and I carried her to her own bed. It was only a few hours later my alarm went off. By all means I had expected to wake up exhausted after just 6 hours of sleep. I felt well rested, got right out of bed and said my prayers. I went to get ready for the day and got my hands wet so I could wipe out the eye gunk I wake up with every morning, only to realize I didn’t have ANY! I then grabbed a tissue to blow my nose and realized my nose was clear, and guess what my throat wasn’t dry, my ears weren’t plugged. I wake every morning with these problems (at least for the last year and a half-thought it was something in our new-ish house maybe), but didn’t today, am I miraculously healed or my old pillow was the root of my problems?
Thursday: I woke up again today with no eye gunk and could breathe! I think it was my pillow! CRAZY! I am pleasantly surprised at how comfortable that sweet zone is. If I was on my side or back I was comfortable while trying to fall asleep. I didn’t have to my hands under my pillow to feel supported. When I turned to sleep on my stomach, laying on the raised edge above the “sweet zone” was also very comfortable.I slept really well, falling asleep quickly again and slept well all night. Woke up feeling well rested. I noticed today when I was driving my school bus route that I didn’t have to chew gum on the bus because my ears weren’t clogged all morning like they usually are.
Friday: This may sound funny, but I noticed this morning that even my hair looks better when I wake up than it usually does. I think it is because my head is cradled in that “sweet zone” no matter what sleeping position I am in my head hardly moves, so my hair doesn’t get messy anymore at night. The pillow is really soft but very supportive.
Saturday: I spent a lot of time yesterday hunched over at the computer and then decorating detailed cupcakes. My shoulders and back were very sore when I went to bed. I woke up with no shoulder or back pain. The support I get from this pillow is outstanding.
Wednesday: I’ve slept with this pillow for a full week and have zero complaints about it. It seriously is the perfect pillow! I sleep so well on it, fall asleep so quickly, and I don’t have any of the eye gunk, dry throat, stuffy nose that I’ve battled for years each morning! I’m sold!”
Thursday: To make this an accurate test, I decided to put my old pillow back on my bed to sleep with last tonight to see how I felt in the morning. I only made it 10 minutes before I couldn’t take it anymore and had to switch back to my new Ortho Fiber pillow. I’m never going back.
That is really what I wrote each day, I seriously think this is the best pillow ever. It is machine washable and easy to care for. Use clean tennis balls in the dryer to help the fiber filling fluff back up. My husband and I both love our new pillows and highly recommend them to anyone that is looking for a new pillow. The best news, is that they aren’t crazy expensive. The Ortho Fiber pillow that I have been using is just $34.95 . Which I think is worth EVERY penny! The Cloud Cool pillow is $54.95. I’ve spent over $75 on a pillow before that didn’t work for me at all…these ones work! I plan to buy an Ortho Fiber 2.0 pillow for my 10 year old who always wakes up with sore shoulders and a sore neck. When I want to buy another of the product I am reviewing, you can guarantee it really is a great product!
If you’re looking for a new pillow, I hope you will give one of these a try! Contour Product’s motto is “We support your life” and they have consulted physicians, chiropractors, respiratory specialists, and industry professionals to really make their comfort line the best possible. I only shared 2 products with you and I encourage you to go to their website and see what comfort solution they have for your needs! Of the two pillows I wrote about in this post, which one do you think you would you like to try? Leave me a comment below telling me which one or tell me what you thought about this pillow review post! Thanks for reading! -CJ
