I don’t think I have met a single kid who doesn’t like bath time…have you? All the ones I know jump on the opportunity to hop into the tub even if it’s just for a minute. Do you often worry if the water is too hot or cold for your child/children? I know that is my number one problem. Mainly the hotness side, not the cold. We, no matter, what will instantly put our hands in the water to check the temperature of the bath, but our hands don’t feel the same as the rest of your body does. ( P.S. I know the elbow trick…) My husband was always one to make the water too hot and my daughter would get out of the tub with a red line from her tummy all the way to her feet. Just because the water is so hot. I have a treat today for all you parents that are just like my husband and I.
It is a bath thermometer from Aquatopia, if you can’t tell! 🙂 The thermometer even has a name. He’s called Trevor Turtle, I think it fits him well!
Let’s get into the thermometer and what it does. As soon as you put this guy in the water and he starts floating he will instantly start showing the temperature of the bath water.
The thermometer can be used world wide. The reason I say this is because it displays both Fahrenheit and Celsius degree’s. So if you’re not from the U.S. You can still very much use this bath time thermometer. It changes from Celsius to Fahrenheit every 2 seconds. You don’t even have to push any type of button to switch the degree. This also helps me learn how to read in Celsius degrees.
Here is the Fahrenheit temp.
Above, ^ is a picture of the Celsius temp.
My question when I got this was, how do I know what is a good temperature for my baby? The answer to that is kind of your choice. Some kids like it warmer, some like it colder. It all depends on your child, and you will know what temperature they feel most comfortable in.
I will give you a temperature that is too hot for your kids and that is too cold. The thermometer has a sensor, and when it is too hot or cold it will beep, and keep on beeping as long as it’s floating on water! If it is too hot, it will beep when it hits 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit (38 degrees Celsius). If it is too cold it will start beeping at 89.6 degrees Fahrenheit (32 degrees Celsius).
This is a battery operated device. How does the battery not get wet you may ask? The water doesn’t touch the part where the battery is. There is a blue bottom to make it float more. (Picture below)
Trevor Turtle is also playable! Kids can play with it and they won’t be harmed. I like it because it’s one more thing for my daughter to play with in the tub.
There was a slight problem I had with this. I will share it with you so you won’t make the same mistake I did! After about a week and a half after I got the bath thermometer it stopped working. The reason it stopped working was probably because I was leaving it in the tub and it was getting wet with water from the shower, and water from the tub. My daughter played with this a lot and when she’d stop playing with it, it would be upside down (screen that you read the temp) in the water. Then I would dress her and just leave the thermometer in the tub with the water upside down (sometimes). I am not doing this anymore! This is not meant to be like a regular bath toy. It can be played with but once your child is done bathing take it out right away.
I was able to fix the thermometer. All I had to do was unscrew all of the device and sure enough there was water under the screen and it was enabling me to see temperature. I was so glad I fixed it but I no longer will leave it in the tub and I will always make sure if it goes upside down to put it’s right side back up. Learn from my mistake!
All in all the bath thermometer is awesome. Beside MY slight mistake (not the company’s) I love it! I am no longer burning my child in the bath and she doesn’t have a red mark from her tummy all the way to her toes. It is a great product and I think all parents need to have this, especially newborns! Aquatopia has this thermometer available online at Target, Walmart, Amazon, and many more places online!
