I’m sure you’ve all heard the saying, “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” As a kid I never understood that, and could care less about breakfast. But as an adult I have really grown to appreciate breakfast. It is so hard for me now to sit down and eat breakfast especially with my daughter screaming at me for more food! But I always try to get something in my stomach because it really affects how my day will go if I do or don’t eat at least something.
My daughter just turned one and has completely lost all appetite of Baby Food, like most kids right? I struggled for a time to figure out what to give her in the morning that will get her going and that will fill up her little tummy. I figured that cereal was a great choice for her to have in the mornings, and she loves cereal! I recently came in contact with Post Cereal company. They offered to send me (and my daughter) 3 boxes of Sesame Street cereal, and 4 bowls and 4 spoons. I got 3 different flavors: A is for APPLE, B is for BANANA, and S is for STRAWBERRY. I love how this cereal even helps little ones learn their letters! I have started doing that on a lot of food for my daughter. I will grab some bread and say B- is for bread. I love the idea of helping them learn while they eat. It’s such a great idea to work their brains, and I thank Post for the idea!
One thing I love about this cereal is the X’s and O’s shapes they have for the cereal! Kids love letters in their cereal.
The cereal also has 16 grams of whole grain per 20 gram serving, and doesn’t have any artificial flavoring! It is recommended that 2-3 year olds eat 1.5 servings or more of whole grain foods per day.
This Sesame Street cereal even has a serving size for children under 4! Is it just my kid, or does anyone else’s kid not eat very much? It is very helpful that they have this serving size just for those smaller kids with less appetite.
My daughter has recently developed an interest in Sesame Street, especially since Dora was taken off of Netlix! When she saw this cereal she lit up. She was trying to eat the boxes. So I decided we had to open up a box and try them out!
All in all- the cereal has a bland taste. It is not meant to taste like most sugary cereal. So the bland taste makes sense. Most children (especially younger ones) don’t need much flavor. Us adults are use to lots of flavor so this is why it tastes bland to us. But most likely the kids will love them!
The first box we opened up was Banana flavor. This was our least favorite flavor, (my hubby, me, and our little girl) it just didn’t have much Banana flavor to it. Although my daughter still ate it, and my husband even had 2 bowls of it. (Even though it’s for kids).
I opened the Strawberry one next. (I believe this is a new flavor) This was the best flavor to all of us. I think it even smelt like strawberries. My daughter loved this flavor, she just kept gobbling them up!
The Apple flavor was just as big of a hit as the Strawberry. My daughter loved those.
Cereal also makes a GREAT snack for my daughter. I have this cereal in a container in my diaper bag. It is a perfect snack on the go, and almost tastes like cheerios with a slight fruity taste.
This was a hit for my daughter, although I didn’t like it much, she loved it. I am so happy she likes this, and my 3 boxes will last a long time!
Post foods has a store locator that you can type in any Post cereal you want and then your zip code and it will tell you what stores near you have certain Post cereals like the Post Sesame Street Cereal (www.postfoods.com)
Sesame Street Post Cereal is a great way to start my daughters morning. I am glad to have come in contact with this cereal so that my daughter could try it. She’s a fan, go ahead and see if your kids like them too.
