About a week or so ago I was very excited when I received an invitation to the IAMS So Good event being held in Manhattan. So yesterday a luxury car service picked me up in front of my house and drove me from Queens to Manhattan to the W Hotel New York Union Square where the event was being held. When I arrived I was enthused to see 100’s of other bloggers like myself from all over the New York, New Jersey, PA and other states. Not only there were lots of people but there were lots of dogs! I spoke with one girl who came down from New Paltz New York and another guy from Chicago so lets just say this event was well attended.
Your probably wondering what this event is all about and don’t worry I wont leave you hanging.
This event will be particularly interesting to Dog and Cat owners who really care about their pet’s health. The IAMS Company is asking the question, “What’s really in your bowl?” They are trying to educate pet owners about the importance of having wholesome natural ingredients in their pet’s food. With that said they invited celebrity Chef Art Smith and his dog Cochon to the event to help explain the importance of pet nutrition to all of us. He was also on hand to share with us his new cookbook called, “Healthy Comfort”.
It was really nice to meet Chef Smith and his dog. He did a wonderful presentation and was great when posing for pictures.
During his talk he spoke about the importance of feeding your pets the most wholesome ingredients while providing great taste as well. He was happy to be on board with IAMS as they introduce their new line of dog food called IAMS SO GOOD! According to IAMS the food contains no added sugar or dyes and has no artificial preservatives. It almost sounds healthier than some of the human food I see out there in the supermarkets. They go on to say that the food includes protein-packed chicken, veggies, fruit, and crunchy kibbles. They also go on to compare IAMS brand dog food to some of their top leading competitors. Check it out at, “What’s Really in your Bowl?” I suggest you go there and click on the links to see what the other dog food companies are putting in their food. Plus there is a really cute dog on the page that moves when you hover your mouse.
After Chef Smith introduced us to IAMS SO GOOD dog food we were all given a new copy of his cookbook, “Healthy Comfort”, and he signed them personally for all of the attendees.
It was great to meet him and chat him up a bit about my husband’s famous chicken wings and Hot Wing Sauce recipe that he’s been perfecting over the years. It would be great if Chef Smith can stop by and give us his opinion the next time he is in NYC. Wouldn’t that be something if a celebrity Chef giving my husband his opinion about his wing sauce? My husband would be very excited to share the sauce with someone like Chef Smith. I will let you know for sure if he does decide to stop by and try our delicious wings for himself…
Okay, okay, I know I’m getting a bit off topic. So lets get back to the event. Before and during this event we were treated to some fantastically delicious human food. There was some bacon there that was just out of this world. I don’t know if the Chef personally cooked it or not but it was just scrumptious. I know bacon is not the healthiest food in the world but I couldn’t resist. The other food they had out was equally delicious as well. There was also Chef Smith’s Chicken and Apples with Blue cheese yogurt dressing on the table and it was very tasty and something new to try. I have the recipe and I will let you know in my next recipe post. I guess IAMS really knows how to put on an event. As a parting gift they gave us some goodies to share with our pets. There was a cute little doggie bandana, a dog bowl of course, and a coupon for some free IAMS dog food and more. I could not wait to get home and to give this orange doggie bandana to my neighbor’s dog Juliet or Julie (she is a Yorkie, isn’t she adorable?) She loves to wear bandanas or even a doggy t-shirts. I see her around every day and on some days she’s wearing “I Heart New York” tee which is my favorite.
I have to say it really good to know that a company like IAMS is making the extra effort to reach out to their consumers. I was equally impressed with the attention they are putting into producing quality healthy dog food.
Now I want to know what’s in YOUR dog’s bowl?
Have an opinion about this dog food? Or maybe the review itself? I welcome your comments!
