Just wanted to share a little bit about how my morning routine goes. First I wake up then I have to light a fire under the kids butts to get them going. They usually have already eaten breakfast by then but need some coaxing when it comes to washing up and getting dressed. After I have done that I proceed to prepare their snacks and bottled water for school. I find myself refilling their empty bottles with filtered water through a funnel. It is not the quickest task and it takes a couple of minutes. In a morning filled with more important tasks I could spare every moment I can get my hands on.
Recently I had the chance to review a new product in the area of water filtration. It is the Filtrete Water Station from the folks over at 3M. They sent me one in white for review.
This new product is a water filtration station that comes with 4 color-coded reusable water bottles. You simply place the empty water bottles under the nozzles on the station and fill the top of the filter with water.
The filtered water then trickles down into the empty water bottles.
You can then put the entire station in the fridge or put the individual bottles in the fridge to keep them cool.
Or you can just use right away or in my case load them in my children’s backpacks.
I will tell I really think this is a very unique and time saving idea. The refillable plastic bottles are BPA free and come with their own attached twist close tops. The best thing is they are color coded so you don’t get them mixed up. It worked out great the colors are yellow, green, blue, and purple. Those happen to be the favorite colors of everyone in my family. Well that worked out just right. We really like the new Water Station and look forward to saving money on all the plastic bottles that we used to buy. We will also make our house a little bit more environmentally friendly.
The only suggestion I have for Filtrete is that they make the water reservoir a bit bigger.
When you are filling up the four bottles you have to add water several times to the top of the reservoir. If it was bigger it would hold more water and it would make filling the bottles that much easier. I guess they were trying to keep the unit small enough to fit in the refrigerator. However I think this change will make the product all the much better. All in all I would recommend this product to anyone who is sick and tired of wasting money on plastic water bottles and looking for a more environmental-friendly option and not only for the convenience of the water system but also for the great tasting water it produces.
