Sassy Cassie (A True Little Princess) Book review

Being a mother of two young children I have probably read over 1000 books to them since they have been babies. It began with the simple board and picture books and continued with Dr. Seuss to where I’m reading my older one the Chronicles of Narnia. There have been books that I loved reading and those, which were a drag. Some authors of children’s books know how to write well and make the story flow for young readers. When I find an author that writes books that both my children and I can enjoy we are very happy.

A new author of children’s books recently contacted me to write a review of her new book The author goes by the name PLA and she sent me a copy of her new book titled “Sassy Cassie” (A True Little Princess. PLA is not only the author but the illustrator as well. She also sent me a bunch of cute bookmarks, greeting cards and a beautiful wooden hand painted picture frame in the “Sassy Cassie” style where you can fill out your daughter’s name and why does your daughter thinks she is a true princess.

After receiving the book I noticed right away that the illustrations were very vibrant and pleasing to the eye. I showed the books and everything else to my daughter who just loved the colors.

She wanted me to read the book to her right away but I told her we had to wait until bedtime. I was eager to read the book to her as well since she was one of my test subjects for the book. I being the reader was the other test subject.

The story centers around the main character named Cassie. She is a young girl who seems to get into her mothers makeup. The story goes on to show Cassie using her mother’s makeup in various scenarios. Each time her mother tells her not to use her makeup and Cassie tells her she won’t. The story flows very well and kept my daughter and I engaged. We particularly enjoyed the last couple of pages where the author explained how different colors are made using a few basic colors.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has a young child. Not only was it a great story but it was educational as well. I look forward to reading more books from PLA.
