What to do if your Nokia Symbian goes away

Guest Post by Wireless Coupon Haven

Nokia used to have the reputation of making the most sturdy and reliable phones. However, this was almost a century ago when the term smart phone has never been coined yet. Since the development of smart phones and Nokia’s Symbian (starting with the Nokia N97), this reputation has crashed down to the dumps. Nevertheless, Nokia fans has continued to hope for the recovery of the, once, giant among giants. However, as long as Nokia’s Symbian’s issues remain unsolved, it would be beneficial to know what to do.

Basic TroubleshootingNokia’s basic troubleshooting is performed one by one in order to isolate how deep the issue of your phone is. First in the order is the power cycle which is performed by turning your phone off, removing the battery, reinserting it, and turning the phone again. Not all phones, however, have removable batteries. If your phone is like the Nokia N8 with an integrated battery, press and hold the power button until the phone vibrates for 3 times and turns off. Second in line is the soft reset which is done by inputting *#7780# and inputting the security code. Doing this will revert your phone’s settings into the original one. This can solve issues that are related to the phone’s settings. If the second one was unable to solve the problem, do a hard reset that will wipe your phone’s memory and will restore your settings. This can sometimes solve problems that are related to corrupted files and applications. Lastly, Nokia’s technician would ask performing a software update. You can do this by following the instructions given on Nokia’s official Nokia Suite page.

Contact SupportI would not suggest jumping directly into this step as Nokia support will only suggest trying the previous step. You can contact Nokia support though call, email or chat. On your initial contact, clearly state that you have already tried the basic troubleshooting to hasten the process of solving the problem.

Contact Your ProviderMost phones have a 6 month warranty with the provider and a year of warranty with the manufacturer. If the issue cannot be solved by the support, have it repaired by the network under the warranty or look at some of your network’s cheap cell phones plans and have your current phone replaced. There are times that the damaged received by your phone will be tagged as BER (beyond economical repair) and will be best to just buy a new one instead of having it repaired. You can use coupons such as AT&T promo code to get discounts or freebies when buying new phones.
