Banana Boat Sunscreen Natural Reflect Lotion, SPF 50

Summer is finally here.  No more worries about below zero temperatures and threats of wild blizzard storms.  I cannot wait to lie out at the beach and dive into the waves.  I am also looking forward to the barbecues, camping, fishing, hiking and all the outdoor activities we can take advantage of while the sun is beaming.  With all of these outdoor activities you have to make sure your are wearing the right gear, that you stay hydrated and well fed and most importantly you are protected from the strong sun.  All too often I see people come back from a day at the beach red as a lobster with sunburn.  Only to spend the next couple of days indoors putting aloe on their burns and hoping no one slaps them on their backs or shoulders (you know who you are).
With a family of four including two little ones and a stubborn husband I have tried many different types of sunscreens/sun blocks.  We did the spray-ons, and the rub-ons.  The supposedly water proof ones to the lotions with an SPF of 50.  It seems as though no matter what they say on the bottle or can you really do need to reapply every couple of hours.  More so if your in and out of the water.  I was recently contacted by Banana Boat a name many know well when it comes to tanning, sunscreen and burn relief products.  They wanted me to review two of their products that they call Banana Boat Sunscreen NaturalReflect.  These products are supposed to reflect UVA and UVB rays. Both were lotion based rub-on crème sunscreen products.  One was for general use and one was for children.  I assume they use a stronger SPF in the children’s product.
Anyway we gave both of these products a test run this past weekend on our trip to a waterpark.  The day provided the perfect testing conditions.  Total sunlight and a day of being in and out of the water.  We applied the lotions around 1030 am.  At first the lotions were a little thick and difficult to rub into the skin.  After a little rubbing the whiteness disappeared.  After several hours in the hot sun we went back for a re-application.  By the end of the day around 4pm out of the three of us I was the only one with a slight burn and it was on my back.  I attribute this to my husband’s poor lotion rubbing ability because there were no burns anywhere else on my body.  Both of my children and husband were a little red in the face area around the eyes.  This is because I am a little weary about putting any chemicals around their eyes.
So when all is said and down Banana Boats New Sunscreen Protect Lotion really did stand up to the testing of a day out in the sun.  I would recommend this product as a great sun screen/block.
