JuiceBar Multi-Device Pocket Solar Charger Review

So I have been looking for a reliable backup charger for my cell phone, ipod and other chargeable electronic devices.  You know for those times when you are away from a power source and your cell phone just happens to die out.  I am sure it’s happened to most of you at one time or another.  Most recently it happened to me at the worst possible time.  My car wouldn’t start and I needed to call for a tow.  I was able to get the initial tow request out but then the phone died.  Unfortunately the power outlet in my car wasn’t working either.  I looked around and guess what there was not a payphone in site.  Luckily for me a Good Samaritan let me use their office phone.  This could have been totally avoidable if I would have had a Juicebar ™ Multi-device pocket solar charger.  This is a handy little device that serves as a backup battery pack for your electronic devices.  Best thing is it can be recharged using the power of the sun or from your USB.  It comes with several different cords and adaptors.  

You can also use your devices own cord.  When using the device it is important to follow the instructions.  They require you to initially fully charge the device using a USB connected to an external power source before using its solar charging capacities.  I found that the unit once fully charge could then bring my  Samsung Galaxy S4 cell phone up to a half charge.  After that the Juicebar ™ became depleted.  I then charged it using the sun only.  Since this is one of the important features of this charger.  After charging the pack for 12 hours or so using sun it didn’t seem to hold much of a charge.  It was able to charge my cell phone for 10 minutes and increase the battery by 1 bar.  However it did not fully charge the phone like I expected.  With this in mind I would say Juicebar ™ could be a reliable emergency backup charger that can get you out of some sticky situations or when you need a quick charge to make a short phone call, send SMS..etc. JuiceBar Solar Charger should not be used as a primary charging device.
